Celebrate Dhoom’s 8th Birthday: £16.5K Pledge Tops £50K Total

Scottish Restaurant of the Year Dhoom turns eight with a £16.5k pledge for local causes, set to bring its charitable donations since 2018 to £50,000

Award-winning Indian streatery & bar, Dhoom, in Dunfermline, is inviting local charities and community groups to put themselves forward during its birthday month of November.

As it gets ready to celebrate this latest milestone in style, it’s announcing a record-breaking year of charitable giving, together with a brand-new culinary expedition to India, which will result in its next incredible street food menu.

The acclaimed eatery, located on Dunfermline’s New Row, has officially donated a record £16,500 to local charities and community groups over the past 12 months alone.

It’s a remarkable total which brings the restaurant’s overall lifetime charitable giving to over £50,000 since Chef-Proprietor Dhaneshwar Prasad first opened Dhoom’s doors to the Dunfermline public in 2018.

With giving back is at the very heart of Dhoom’s ethos, the announcement caps off an incredible year for the restaurant, which was recently crowned Scottish Restaurant of the Year at the British Asian Restaurant Awards 2026.

Other recent accolades for Dhoom, and for Prasad as a chef, include Scottish Restaurant of the Year at the British Asian Restaurant Awards 2026, Best Restaurant at the Scottish Hospitality Awards, and four consecutive AA Rosette Plates. Prasad was also named as one of Scotland’s 50’s most influential and exciting chefs.

Dhoom’s monthly community gifting initiative relies on a combination of regular restaurant contributions, together with the greatly appreciated, ongoing support of its customers. Over the years, the initiative has supported vital local causes, youth sports teams, and community associations across Fife, including football, gymnastics, cricket, swimming, martial arts, and, on several occasions, Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park.

Commenting on reaching eight successful years of Dhoom in Dunfermline, Chef Prasad, Owner of Dhoom, said:

“It is an absolute privilege to give back to the Dunfermline community that has embraced us so warmly over the last eight years. Hitting the £50,000 lifetime milestone is a testament to the generosity of our amazing customers. By working together, small monthly contributions add up to make a massive, tangible difference to local charities that keep our community thriving.”

He finished by saying: “From next week we will invite the public to nominate the community champions they would like to see receive a donation. This can be an organisation, a group, club or charity. We will see who gets the most votes and allocate donations from there throughout November. We are very excited to do this.”

With Dhoom’s current 10-course Desi Eats tasting menu still running, Chef Prasad is planning another research trip to India for fresh inspiration. Details remain under wraps, with more to be revealed in due course.
