The Food

I had seen many bloggers’ posts and mentioned they do BIG portions so I knew tonight I had to order wisely….and also wisely with the level of heat I choose.

Bun Sliders (1) £n/a tonight (normally £7)
Toasted slider buns with tenders, cheddar, slaw, pickles, Lucky B’s sauce and waffle fries. (Upgrade to cheese fries £1)

I decided to go for just the one bun slider with a “Warming Up” level of heat.

I also decided to get some cheese on my fries…

On arrival, this was a BIG portion and it was just the one slider! but the aroma from it was very good….but WOW that was a VERY BIG slider.

Time to taste…

I started with the fries and these were cooked perfectly and with the added warm melted cheese mmmm so so so good!

I then picked up the slider and still amazed by its size, I took a bite from each side.

The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender and mega juicy…and the flavour with the “warming up” heat level was delicious!

Every bite of this was really good, and I am glad I choose this tonight…though there were a few other items that sounded good….so they will be tried next visit.

Chocolate Milkshake £n/a tonight (£5.50)

I thought let’s grab a milkshake just in case the heat level was just a bit much for me, so I had to get the chocolate one.

This was a very nice milkshake, with good consistency and a nice flavour. It had chocolate sauce and little bits of chocolate through it, and it worked very well with my bun slider and fries.

Final Thoughts…

Firstly a big thanks to the guys for my invite, I love finding and trying new places.

The food here tonight I cant fault in anyway, great flavours and BIG portions so if you visit go VERY hungry as you will be very full when you leave.

I look forward to going back and trying another option, and I am adding here to my top spots page.

Ashoka South Side (Clarkston Road, Glasgow) 2023 : Review

Visit & Vibes

The guys at Ashoka Southside invited me to come and check them out, so we set a date and time.

I have been to a few Ashoka’s but not this one, so I was excited to check them out.

Inside was very busy so I didn’t take any inside photos, as I am not a fan of doing that when there are kids about or a place is very busy…but I am sure you can check what it looks like on their Instagram.

The Food

Normally I have a few dishes in mind to try before going to a place, but tonight I thought I would see what jumps out at me and go for that.

Chorizo Pakora £n/a tonight (normally £5.75)
Pakoras are a delicious Indian crisp fried snack made with gram flour & spices. Classic Indian finger food that no one can resist.

I recently tried Chorizo Pakora at another place, so when I saw they did them here I had to check them out and see how here did them.

On arrival, this looked good and the aroma was really good as I could smell that lovely chorizo smell.

I took a bite of one and install was hit by an amazing flavour, these were perfectly cooked and the chorizo taste was really good.

These were very very easy to eat and even though there was a dip, they didn’t require it as they tasted very good on their own.

I could have easily had more of this.

Chicken Pakora £n/a tonight (normally £5.75)
Pakoras are a delicious Indian crisp fried snack made with gram flour & spices. Classic Indian finger food that no one can resist.

Normally my go-to pakora is Vegetable or Chicken so I had to try some of the chicken pakora here to see how they did it.

I took a bite and YUM! these were cooked perfectly again, the chicken was really tender and the flavour was great and the coating had a really good crispness to it.

Every bite was packed with great flavour and lovely tender chicken.

This was a great portion size and if you are a chicken pakora fan you need to check these out.

Malabari £n/a tonight (normally £12.95)
An aromatic curry with coconut milk and loads of south Indian spices finished with a temper of fried curry leaves, mustard seeds, and whole dried red chili. Available with Chicken, Lamb (£1 supplement) Fish, King Prawn (£2.50 supplement), Paneer, Tofu & Seasonal Vegetables

My taste in curry dishes has been changing recently and I have been adventurous in trying different ones, but tonight this one caught my eye.

I opted for chicken and pilau rice, and couldn’t wait to try it

On arrival, this looked good and it had a nice aroma, but how did it taste?

I plated it up and took a bite of the chicken and curry on its own to get its taste first.

Again the chicken was very tender and the curry was nice! Flavour wise I got a lovely creaminess to start with followed by the mustard seeds then rounding it all off a nice coconut flavour.

Gulab Jamun £n/a tonight (normally £2.95)
Gluten-free spongy milky balls soaked in rose-scented syrup, add vanilla ice cream or vegan vanilla ice cream for 55p

There is always room for Gulab Jamun and tonight was no exception.

When I go to an Indian restaurant I either end my meal with a mango lassi or a gulab jamun for some reason that’s my wee ritual.

On arrival, this looked nice, and you got a nice amount of ice cream.

YUM! yip that sums it up. Great flavour, a good temperature and was a great end to my meal tonight.

The Food

I have had a lot of the items on the menu as I visited here a good few times, so tonight I wanted to order at least one new item.

Karachi Bun Kebab £3.50
Minced lamb patty, encased in masala omelette, with onions, tamarind, and special mango chutney all in a toasted bun

This jumped out at me and sounded very nice, and the good thing is that this item was one I had never had before so I had to order it.

On arrival, this looked really interesting and had a great aroma…

I took a big bite and oh…this was interesting.

The flavour of this was really good! I got the egg first which was really tasty, followed by the lamb then everything else and it all worked very well together.

I could have easily had another! highly recommended if you visit here!

Mogo Chips £4.00
Cassava fingers tossed in chilli powder served with a smokey gazebo sauce dip

I have had these before, and I really enjoyed them so at today’s visit I had to order them again.

These are very tasty and seasoned nicely, they also come with a dip which just adds to an already nice flavour.

If you haven’t tried these, check them out on your next visit.

Karak Chai
A well-brewed strong tea

I have had this before and it’s my fav tea at Chaiiwala so tonight I had to get it again.

I am not a big tea fan but for me, this is just so so so good!

Highly recommended and am sure just like me you will want more.
