Madha Restaurant (Merchant City, Glasgow) 2022 : Review

The Visit

I had Madha on my list of places to visit, and then I spotted an ItIsOn deal for here so I grabbed it and then set a date to visit.

I knew I would order more than just what was on the deal, as I wanted to try a few things.

The Food

I have a lot of friends from South India so I wanted to try some food from that region today.

I had no idea what to get but I had a few recommendations from friends and also the owner tonight.

ERACHI THENGA FRY £6.95
Lamb pan-fried in South Indian spices finished with black pepper and grated coconut. Served with tapioca masala.

I had an idea of what I wanted as my starter tonight, but a friend suggested I get this instead of my original choice.

I had no idea how spicy, or if I would like this but I thought ok let’s give it a try.

On arrival it looked just ok, and smelled really good…so it was time to dig in.

Oh, this was really nice, the lamb was very tender and had a lovely peppery flavour, and the side was nice but both together was perfect.

I am very happy this was recommended to me, and I would have this again!

CHETTINADU KOZHI £12.95
A classic Tamil recipe of chicken, roasted coconut and rich in crushed black pepper

I didn’t take any photos of my plating as it didn’t show it off very well, so that’s why just the dish photo.

This was recommended for me tonight by the manager, and I asked if they could make it mild as I know as I am not great with spicy.

I was very hesitant when trying this as mild for one person could be ok or very spicy for another.

This smelled very nice, and now it was time to dig in.

This was a good level of spice for me, so I was very pleased. Flavour-wise it was nice and worked very well with the rice.

I would maybe try another dish next visit, and maybe be a little adventurous and try something just a little spicy.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

MALABARI PAROTTA £2.95
Soft multi-layered bread of finely milled white flour, toasted on a griddle

I have had this before and love it, its thin, flaky and very yummy and perfect to dip into a curry.

If you have not tried this before, order it and try it and let me know what you think 🙂

Rating: 5 out of 5.

MANGO & FENNEL LASSI £3.95

Yip, you know me I have to always have a Lassi when I see a place that does them.

This was a very nice Mango Lassi, thick, and great favour.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

GULAB JAMUN £4.95
India’s most popular sweet! Deep- fried dumplings of reduced milk soaked in a light sugary syrup. Served warm with vanilla ice cream.

This is my favourite Indian dessert, and I always have it if I have room left in my stomach.

This was perfect! it tasted fresh, moist and not heavy.

This is probably one of the best Gulab Jamun I have had in a long time!!!

My Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Visit Overall :

Tonight’s visit was very good, I enjoyed my meal and chatting with the manager.

I really enjoyed my starter and dessert, my main was nice but as I said I would try something else next time.

Have you been here? let me know what you had and thought in the comments.

Overall Rating :

Rating: 4 out of 5.
