Visit & Vibes
This weekend was quite eventful for me, filled with many first-time experiences.
I embarked on my first trip to the Isle of Skye, and everything beyond Nevis Range was entirely new to me, so I was eagerly anticipating the adventure.
I rose early that morning and set off, but by around noon, hunger began to gnaw at me. Although I had hoped to wait and find something to eat on the island, skipping breakfast left me with no choice but to find a place to stop.
As luck would have it, I stumbled upon a random location while exiting the car park in front of Hector’s Bothy, and decided to give it a try.
The interior had a traditional style with touches of modernity scattered throughout. I found it a bit indecisive in its aesthetic direction—uncertain whether to maintain its original charm or transition to a more contemporary vibe.
The bustling atmosphere was reassuring; it indicated that the place was popular, so I eagerly anticipated sitting down and enjoying a meal.

Two burgers layered with, haggis, cheddar cheese and homemade sauce, served with a side salad and chips
I was quite hungry, so when I looked at the menu, there were a few options available, but I decided to go for a burger. I only glanced at it, not paying much attention because I was feeling a bit tired and needed some food to fuel the rest of the journey. I didn’t actually notice that it said two burgers.
Upon arrival, the burger was massive. It had a wonderful aroma, accompanied by a generous side portion of chips and salad. However, the burger itself was huge.
As I picked it up, I felt its weight, and some of the cheese mixed with the haggis and sauce was spilling out the sides. It was going to be a messy burger, but as they say, the messier, the better.
Managing to take a good bite due to its size, I found the burger to be delicious. It was perfectly cooked, with a satisfying amount of haggis, cheese, and sauce. Everything came together beautifully, resulting in a fantastic taste experience.
After finishing the burger, I could only manage to eat half of the chips because I was so full. But if you ever find yourself in this area, you must try this burger if you’re a fan of large burgers. It was truly exceptional and offered great value for money.

Final Thoughts…
Overall, appearances can be deceiving. I was a bit hesitant at first, but I left feeling thoroughly satisfied and stuffed. The service and staff today were good. As I mentioned, it was a bit noisy inside due to the bustling crowd and the clatter of plates and cutlery.
As you’ve just read, the burger was incredibly filling—extremely so. It had a delicious flavour and was definitely worth the money. If you ever find yourself in the area craving a burger, I highly recommend checking this place out. However, do take note that it gets very busy; I had to wait for a table for a short period.
