Having stated that bringing more industry accolades to South Queensferry is one of its aims for this “award season,” The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack has revealed that it is already a finalist in the Fish & Chip Restaurant of the Year category in The 6th Scottish Restaurant Awards 2026.
Run by Oceanic, The Scottish Restaurant Awards celebrate Scotland’s culinary excellence across a whole host of categories, from best steak restaurant, best Spanish & Mediterrean restaurants, to best Grill restaurant, and best Hotel restaurant.
Following its Finalist listing in the Best Fish & Chip Restaurant category, with eight other businesses across Scotland, The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack will now go forward to the Grand Final at Glasgow’s Doubletree Hilton in October.
“This is the perfect start to the award seasons which we always view as an opportunity to showcase Scotland’s finest food & seafood which we respect every day in our busy open galley kitchen,” said restaurant owner, Bryan Coghill.
“After only opening last June, it is fantastic to be included in what is a list of high-quality Scottish Fish & Chip restaurants. Fish and chips is still the nation’s favourite, and no wonder, who doesn’t enjoy tucking into fresh, lightly battered haddock, and fluffy golden chips?”
“Our fish is never frozen, and our chips are made fresh on the premises every day.”
Bryan revealed that The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack was also appealing for customer votes in the Scottish Fish & Chip Awards, which as the name suggests, only concerns itself with fish & chip businesses, including take-outs, mobile operators and restaurants.
It will shortly be putting in an entry to, in Bryan’s words, “the big one”, the National Fish & Chip Awards, held in London next February.
Last year, the restaurant was Runner Up in the Best Newcomer category of this prestigious scheme which attracts the country’s finest operators.
Bryan also revealed that the restaurant would be closing its current Cash for Kids fundraiser at the end of this month.
Customers have been able to donate an “invisible fish supper” by scanning a QR code displayed on table leaflets.
“We would like to thank everybody who’s contributed to this fundraiser. We’re going to end this current campaign on the 31st of August. There’s still time to buy an invisible fish supper if you haven’t already done so. Any more donations we can gather will be very gratefully received,” said Bryan.
“Cash for Kids has been our designated charity since we opened. We will soon be turning our attention to what can be done for the Mission Christmas appeal, and have something far more ambitious planned for next year which we hope will continue to bring the money in for this worthy cause.”
