El Santo Latin American restaurant in Glasgow’s Merchant City, which includes El Santito Cocktail Bar, has introduced a new range of specially created cocktails to celebrate the FIFA World Cup.
Devised by Arthur Oganan, these innovative cocktails will be available to enjoy on Friday June 12th, from 7pm to 1am, as El Santo stages its special International World Cup Night, an event inspired by “the energy of the World Cup, with music, crowd and connection taking centre stage.”
With quirky football related names, the cocktails showcase a range of spirits, including gin, medori and mezcal. “The Hampden” is a cocktail of Shipyard Hale Moku gin, Campari & blue curaçao, whilst “The Greenkeeper,” contains Midori, Yuzu Liquer, Lime & Mr. Bitters Foamer. The “Miami ’26” gets its fantastic flavour from Cocchi Americana, combined with Aperol, Sauvignon Blanc & Blue Curacao. The Azteca After Dark” is another delicious creation, a mix of Pensador Mezcal, Falernum, Peach Brandy, Mole negro paste, and Choco Bitters.
Completing the line-up is the “Maradona,” with Fernet Branca, Cola Cordial & Three Cents cherry soda, and the “Samba de Lisboa”, combining Cachaca, Creme de Cassis, Vinho Verde & saline solution.
And so that those who don’t drink alcohol don’t miss out, the collection additionally includes a mocktail called “The Clean Sheet”, made with Crossip Orange, peach, mint & lime.
“We believe these cocktails are some of the most impressive and innovative ever served at El Santo. Special thanks go to Arthur for creating them with such passion,” said Denny Norris, Operations Manager for El Santo. “He has put all of his mixology skills into these drinks, balancing flavours & textures to ensure that the drinks are a luxe experience, a fitting celebration of the FIFA World Cup.”
“As it’s a tournament that only comes along every four years, and sees Scotland playing Brazil, which doesn’t happen every day, for us, as a Latin American restaurant with a Brazilian Head Chef at the helm, it’s quite an event. We definitely wanted to do something dramatic.”
Denny finished by saying that El Santo’s World Cup Cocktail collection “represented the coming together of two football obsessed cultures. We can’t wait for our guests to try these drinks!”
El Santo’s World Cup Cocktail will be available throughout the entire Tournament.
