When I got this invite I had to accept, as it sounded amazing.

First everyone who was coming would meet at the Cathedral House Hotel for canapés and fizz, then we would be taken to The Exchange at Greenock where we would meet the owners and chef and be treated to a feast.

First Stop

The meeting point was at Glasgow Cathedral House, to be honest I have known there was something here but never been inside I have either driven past or walked past, so tonight I would finally get to see whats inside.

Looking Around

On entering its not what I expected, it was very nicely decorated and this was just the bar / eating area.

We were welcomed with a glass of fizz which was really nice.

While waiting for everyone to arrive, the guys here started to bring out the canapés.

As you can see from the above photos everything looked good, but did it taste good? I can honestly it tasted VERY good!

Everything was perfectly cooked, and full of really nice flavours. My favourite was the risotto, it was MEGA moreish for me.

A big thanks to everyone tonight and compliments to the chefs, as the food was very very very good.

This is a little hidden gem that most people tend to just pass, but its really lovely inside and has an events area you can hire and some rooms in case you want to spend the night.

For those of you who like a beer garden, well this place has one for those few days of sun Glasgow is treated to a year.

Guys do pop in if passing, you wont be disapointed.

On to Greenock…

We got in to a coach and headed to the second destination which was located at Greenock, now I have not been here since I was a little boy so it would be nice to see it again.

Arrived…

On pulling up to the Exchange it looked interesting, so it was time to go in and see what it was like.

Looking Around

On entering I was very very impressed, the place looked very modern, stylish and had that homely feel to it.

Tonight we were going to have a meet and greet with the owners and chef, plus get to try a few items from the menu…well it was actually more than a few as you will see.

The Food

WOW first impression was this looked good, smelled good and more important I hope I have another hole on my belt 🙂

As you can see from the many photos above, the Exchange really really spoiled us tonight!

The first dish I tried was the Stornoway black pudding spring rolls, and this was and a massive mmm and I could have easily had everyones.

The desert which I always look forward to as I have a sweet tooth, when it was placed on the table I instantly knew I had to try the little cup.

This is heaven in a cup and was so good, I actually had 3 (bad me I know) to be honest I could have probably had 5 but I was so full from the amount of food I stopped myself at 3.

The food here guys was really good! I honestly thought I was sitting in a nice restaurant in town, and here I was in Greenock…who would have thought here would have an amazing restaurant and its not that far a drive from Glasgow.

I think I can say from everyone that attended tonight the only complaint we all had was our stomachs weren’t big enough for everything.

Overall

Firstly a big thanks to both locations for tonight, you really spoiled us and compliments to the chefs at both the Cathedral House and Exchange.

I am adding both locations to my top spots, as I felt both locations were very nice, homely and the food at both was a solid 10/10 and am sure everyone who was at this event would 100% agree.

Guys if your looking for two new places to visit, please check both of these locations out I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

Glasgow Bloggers Meet Up #1 : Chaakoo Bombay Cafe

invite

When I started this blog I set it up as a challenge, I wanted to try and improve my spelling and my social life and see what its like to become a blogger. I ate out a lot so I decided to become a food blogger, as I was always getting teased at constantly taking photos of my food.

October 2016 was when I really focused on my blog, as prior to that it was just a little “if i remember to do it” project. At that point I only had 30 odd twitter followers, and just friends on my Instagram. Now January 2017, those numbers have changed a lot.

Over the past few months, I have been to a large amount of restaurants and been invited to a few events. I have also made many new friends along the way, all of them really lovely and would like to keep in touch and see them more often.

Now 2017 my goals for my blog are :

  • Be more critical in all reviews
  • Try more random products to add to the mix of my food reviews
  • Arrange some Glasgow Blogger meet ups.
  • Vlogging

The first two points above are easy to achieve, but the last two not so much.

I have seen and heard from people (mostly heard) that Glasgow  Blogger meet ups have been arranged in the past, but normally a large amount say yes and then only a little turn up or its called off. They also tend to be mostly food specific…why? so thats something I wanted to change.

I used to prepare a lot of events and DJ inside the online game Secondlife for a charity, so I thought lets use that knowledge and bring it to this.

My first task was to figure out location and who to invite, I thought starting small was the best idea.

I won’t go in to full detail, but I meet a few people at the Revolution de Cuba bloggers event and have kept in touch. I have also kept in touch with Emma Eats and Weekends with Wendy since my last meet ups with them. I thought this would be the perfect start and messaged them.

Next was to think of a location, but this was an easy one….Chaakoo Bombay Cafe.

Our Meet Up : Friday 27th January 2017

Location : Chaakoo

As you may have seen from my Tweets or blogs, I have been to Chaakoo a lot. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly. For my first meet up this was where I wanted it to be.

Invited : 14

Just like all events planned you never really expect to have a full house, people plans change, they don’t feel well etc etc. Tonight we had a total of 7, for me this was a success as I was only expecting 4 or less mostly due to it being the first and due to the small amount invited.

The Guests :

I have to say at this point if you reading this and know me, and wondering why you never got an invite don’t worry I am not ignoring you there was a reason. The people I invited tonight all have similar personalities or I thought would mix well with everyone.

This was a key factor to arranging tonight, I didn’t want to just invite x y and z and hope they mixed so I planned it that there would be some form of connection etc.

The people that turned up tonight were :

  • Chris : This is my best friend and he has been very supportive with my blogging.
  • Irina : My girlfriend

Weekends With Wendy : A travel blogger and friend that I have met a few times since I started blogging.

Amy’s Food Blog : I have now met Amy twice, she is a lovely girl and very friendly. Amy is a food blogger and journalist.

Tom Jarvis : Amy’s boyfriend, and audio blogger.

Evy, evidently : Evy is a blogger and Vlogger. I have only been in contact with Evy very recently, and again she is a very nice girl to chat with and look forward to meeting and chatting to her more.

And me 🙂

As you can see if you take a look at everyones blog, I didn’t just focus on food bloggers. There are a lot of really nice bloggers in Glasgow, and they don’t just focus on food so now its time we have a meet up and meet everyone.

Also my plan is to hold it at a different restaurant every time, as its always good to try somewhere new.

We were welcomed by the staff at Chaakoo and given a nice welcome cocktail, and a lovely set table for everyone tonight.

We all ordered what we wanted and just chatted, and took photos of the food and each other.

I won’t do a food review here as I had some of the same dishes that I have already posted about, so check my reviews out when you get a chance.

I had a fun time, and it was good to see everyone getting a long.

I would like to give a BIG thanks to everyone who attended tonight, and also a BIGGER thanks to Chaakoo who gave us great service and a few freebies tonight as you helped make tonight very special for everyone and me.

If you haven’t tried Chaakoo yet take a look at their website and visit : chaakoo.co.uk

Now I planning on doing another meet up last week February, or first week March I will speak to everyone and see what is best. I discussed my idea at tonights meet up, and it seemed to go down well so now I’ve just to contact the manager and arrange dates and numbers.

If you’re a Glasgow blogger and would like an invite, DM me on Twitter and lets chat 🙂

Next meet up there will be 20 spaces.

It’s time us bloggers meet up more!

🙂

Bella Italia Glasgow (Sauchiehall Street) : Review

47-49, Sauchiehall Street,
Glasgow,

Websitewww.bellaitalia.co.uk

Bella Sauchiehall Street is styled in Bella’s metro look to reflect the dynamic and gorgeous city of Glasgow. We’ve got something for everyone to enjoy, from plenty of quirky seating, Mediterranean inspired artwork, buzzing atmosphere and delicious food all served up by our dedicated and caring team!

Visit Date : 15th January 2017

I have tried Bella Italia before (a good few years) but it just lacked something for me, so recently I decided to give it another shot.

This Bella Italia is fairly new, and this was my first visit.

On entering we were welcomed and shown to our table, and asked if we would like to order a drink while we looked at the menu.

Decor :

This place has a very modern Italian design, very bright very colourful and very funky.

I really liked this as the previous ones I have been in, have had a very classic Italian design. This could be a redesign I don’t know, but it was nice fresh and colourful.

Main :

IMG_4709.jpg

For me this was the best part of the meal, the flavour from both was amazing. My favourite was the Salted Caramel this was sooooooo good, I could have had lots more but I was being good this evening.

Overall :

Overall tonights visit was just ok, I am not sure I would go back. If I did I would try something different, as I would go to Paesano Pizza or Pizza Punks for pizza. For me they did a better pizza, one more to what I think is a good pizza.

The staff tonight were very friendly, and very helpful so I can’t fault the service.
