The guys over at Timorous Beastie Whisky sent me some samples of their whisky, to get me ready for Burns Night and also to try their whisky.

They sent me 3, one has been core bottled and the other two aged for different lengths.

What Arrived

When you hear the name Timorous Beastie, you instantly think Scottish, Robert Burns and a wee mouse so when you look at the bottle label it’s exactly what you picture.

The branding here is very cool, with the wee mouse and its name Timorous Beastie.

For those that don’t know Timorous Beastie gets its name from Robert Burns’ “To a Mouse,”  poem. In the poem the line reads “Wee, sleekit, cowran, tim’rous beastie, O, what a panic’s in thy breastie! ”

About Timorous Beastie Whisky

Timorous Beastie is a marriage of Single Cask, Single Malt from only the Highland region of Scotland.

They say it’s Timorous by name, but not by nature.

The original Timorous Beastie, immortalized in Robert Burns’ famous Scots poem “To a Mouse” was a timid, little field mouse. Echoing our national bard’s wit, ours is most certainly not for the fainthearted! Inside there’s a medley of vanilla, malted barley, meringue, honey, and citrus flavors just bursting to be unleashed…

The Whisky

I have to be honest I am not really a whisky drinker, its not really my drink of choice but I am always up for someone to change my mind and my taste buds and make me start liking whisky.

I have tried many different whisky’s but none really grabbed my attention.

Was this the brand that turned me? read on…

Previously any time I have tried whisky it’s always been an instant YUK for me, I don’t know why but just the taste, after taste, so it was time to sit down and taste these tonight (25th Jan Burns Night).

Visually I noticed all of them where a nice light colour, whereas the ones I have had previously have looked a lot darker so this was interesting.

Nose : All of them smelled really pleasant to me, and I got hints of honey

So far visually and the smell was all good…now to taste.

I tried the drinks in this order: Aged 10 years, 18 years and then finishing up with Core Bottling.

The 10-year and 18-year had a burn and then rounded off with a nice taste. I was very surprised at this, as I really did expect it to be an instant nah…now on to the Core Bottling.

This one for me was actually my favourite out of the 3 samples, the burn wasn’t as bad for me and the overall flavour was the nicest and lightest for me.

Overall :

Note : Just because this was gifted, that has not influenced my thoughts in any way. The above is a 100% honest review of the whisky

Well I never would have thought I would be saying this, but if I had to order a whisky or purchase one this is the one I would go for.

The taste, after taste was much better than any previous whisky I have tried before. If you are a whisky drinker then you need to check these guys out as am sure you will be very very impressed with Timorous Beastie
