Chilli Grill Takeaway (Castlemilk, Glasgow) 2021 : Review

The Visit

The guys over at Chilli Grill sent me a message to see if I would like to get a takeaway and try some of their food.

I love finding new places to eat or takeaways, more so ones that are close to where I stay.

The Food

I had seen others getting some food on my stories, and it all looked very good so I wasn’t 100% sure what to get apart from maybe a “Loaded Naan”

Brace yourself as there’s a lot and it will make you hungry!

Loaded Naan
Served on a Garlic Nan, topped with Chicken Tikka Balti Curry, Chips Overloaded With Cheese, sprinkled Spring Onion

Firstly the size of box you get this in is HUGE!!!

As soon as you open it you go WOW as there is a lot to take in!

Lets start with the pakora….

The chicken pakora was very tender and had a nice light and crispy batter, and flavour was very nice. The Vegetable pakora again was very tasty and had a lovely light batter. I am not a mushroom pakora fan so I left this, but I am sure it would be just as lovely.

Now for the loaded naan.

Visually this looked amazing, and it was HUGE so its either for a very hungry person or to share.

This was really so good, and I am not just saying that. Everything worked so well together, the flavours, textures everything was a perfect bite.

I think I can see myself ordering this again if I skip lunch or have friends over.

Salt N Chilli Crinkle Cut Chips

And there was more…

I love a nice salt and chili chips, I have even made my own so I couldnt wait to try these.

These looked as good as they tasted. There was a subtle kick to them with the nice texture and saltiness you want.

Before I knew it the container was half empty, so I paused and continued trying the other dishes.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Fire cracker box
Fire cracker chicken, rice and honey chilli chicken

When they told me they were going to give me the Fire chicken box to try, the word “fire” stood out for me. I started to get worried, as I am not a guy that can handle too much heat.

So what did I think?…keep reading

Lets start with the Fire Chicken…I took a bite and expected my mouth to explode….I couldn’t have been more wrong.

This was so nice! no burn or kick for me just a really lovely flavour with tender chicken! I took a second bite just in case it it was a slow burner, nope still just as lovely and extremely moreish!!!

No to the honey chilli chicken, will this have a nice kick or flavour?

This was just as nice, still very tender and a lovely flavour and just like everything so far very moreish!!!

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Kebab Meat

Last but not least…

Kebab meat is just the best! great on its own, with sauce or with something its just so good.

Just like everything else it was very tasty and was finished very easily.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Tandoori Knights via FoodHub (Cambuslang, Glasgow): Review

The Delivery

I fancied something different this week so I opened up the FoodHub app and placed an order from Tandoori Knights, and this is what I ordered.

Regular Veg Pakora £3.50

I like all pakora’s but more recently veg pakora has been the one I have always opted for.

I have found veg pakora can be hit or miss depending on where you are, or who you order from and I can’t remember if I have ever tried it for here.

These came with a dip, but I like to always try them on their own first then with the dip.

Ohh these were very nice, they were perfectly cooked, had a nice crunch and tasted very yummy.

With the dip that added extra flavour and again very very nice.

Chicken Tikka Pasanda £9.50

Something different for me, as I tend to stick to the same curries but nope not tonight.

Oh wow this was really nice, the rice was really nice and well cooked and the curry has a lovely creamy coconut flavour to it.

This was similar to a korma but has a slight and I mean slight kick to the curry.

I am glad I tried something different, and would order this again.

Donner Hoggie £5.00

I wanted to order this again, as I have had this before as I love Donner meat so much.

This was really nice, though the chips could have been cooked just for a few more seconds to add that extra crunch to them.

The sauce and the meat was perfect and the whole bite was mmmm

My Rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Salt & Chilli Oriental (West End, Glasgow) : Review

Salt & Chilli Oriental is from award-winning TV and Lychee Oriental chef Jimmy Lee, and its aim is to serve the best Cantonese street food.

The Takeaway

I have known Jimmy Lee for many years now, as I used to frequent his Glasgow restaurant Lychee Oriental which I highly recommend you check out as its always amazing food and the staff are lovely.

Jimmy sent me a wee message to come and visit Salt and Chilli for a takeaway and I couldn’t wait to try the food as I am sure its just as amazing as the food from Lychee Oriental.

The Goodies

The smell from these were amazing and I couldn’t wait to open them and dig right in.

Crispy Duck Rolls £n/a (normally £5.50)
Handmade 24hr Marinated Duck

Firstly as I said earlier in this post, the smells were amazing and mega mouth-watering.

I first tried one on its own with no dip, so I could taste the full flavour. WOW it was a perfect bite, had a nice little crunch, and then the flavour of the duck explodes in your mouth it was so good.

Now time to try with the dip, oh wow this adds another dimension to the flavour and for me this was the winning combo for me so so so good.

I could have easily had much much more of this, but I had the salt and chilli box to follow 🙂

Salt & Chilli Box (Inc Dip and Side) : Special £n/a (normally £11)
Wings | Rib | Chicken & Fries

As soon as I opened this box the smell hit me mmmmm everything looked and smelled good….now time to taste.

I started with the chips, firstly thin chips are always a win for me and these were very nice and had a good kick to them.

Next was the ribs, these had a really nice flavour and the meat slide right off the bone.

Lastly was the wings, again really nice flavour and perfectly cooked.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.
