Swadish (Merchant City, Glasgow) 2021 : Review

V: 2nd July 2021

The Visit :

Back again, yup I should just set up camp here as recently I am here lots…though Ajay and the staff probably wouldn’t like that.

The Food:

Crispy Kale Bhaji £4.50

I thought I would order a light starter and this is what caught my attention.

Wow just look at this, this smelled and looked really good.

This is as its described crispy and very tasty, and actually very filling.

I would happily order this again, and I think I actually have…I am loosing track of what I have and haven’t tried 🙂

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Chicken Tikka Masala £13

I don’t think I have tried this….but I could be wrong and cant remember…

Just like all the dishes here they come out looking great and smelling great.

I ordered rice with this dish, and plated up.

Ohh very nice, the flavours were nice nothing over powering and the chicken very tender.

My Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Mocktail : Alhambra £6.00
Raspberry, Strawberry, Mint, Lime, Soda

I am the designated driver these days, so its juice or mocktails…which to be honest suit me fine.

This one jumped out at me as it sounded sweet, and I like sweet things.

Ohh very nice, and very refreshing and worked well with tonight’s meal.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Swadish Big Daddy Sunday Grill (Merchant City, Glasgow) 2021 : Review

V: 13th June 20201

Swadish invited me to come along to try a new dish that is being added to the menu, but this one is only availbe on Sundays and for a group of 4 or more people.

Luckily they told me more people were invited or I would have probably exploded trying to eat this all by myself.

On entering I was greeted by Ajay and we had a good catch-up, and then we were presented with a Mango Lassi

Mango Lassi £5.50

They also do a passion fruit Lassi if that tickles your taste buds more.

Mango Lassi is a fav of mine, and this tasted really good. It wasn’t too sweet, and had great flavour.

I will be getting this again on my return.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Now for the Big Daddy Grill…

About The Grill:

A FEAST for your eyes and EXPLOSION of true Indian flavours for your taste buds. First time in Glasgow, like nothing you have seen before from the streets Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala and Punjab the charcoal grilled and juicy chicken and lamb will make you DROOL for more.

Available on Sundays only by a pre-order for groups of at least 4 people, and the price starts at £27.50 pp

The grill consists of:

  • Tandoori Malai Chicken
  • Tandoori Green Herbs and Black Peppercorns Chicken
  • Tandoori Spiced Chicken
  • Kohlapuri Lamb Chops
  • Dried Fenugreek, Chilli and lemon marinated charred vegetables
  • Makhni tomato sauce
  • Mixed vegetable salad
  • Kebab Sauce
  • Cucumber and mint raita
  • Coriander Chutney
  • Garlic naan bread

Has that made your mouth water just reading that? I bet its has!

They say you eat with your eye before your belly, this is very true for this. It was carried out to the table, you could hear some sizzling, smell it all before I saw it.

It was then placed on the table, and it took up the whole table and looked soooo good!!! Everyone around me also was like wow!!!!

I started with the naan. and it was fluffy and had a great taste. The garlic wasn’t overpowering, it was just there and was perfect.

Dipping this in the sauces was needed, and again mmmm so so so good!

Next was time to dig in and try all the chicken etc

I feel I am repeating myself, but its 100% the truth! The meat on everything was cooked to perfection, it slid right off the bone and packed with amazing flavours.

I tried a bite from everything, and like everyone else we really enjoyed every mouthful.

Overall

Firsly a BIG thanks to the guys at Swadish for the invite and the amazing food!

You saw how good it looked, and it tasted amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection and was packed with amazing flavours.

Get booking now to make your Sundays that extra special!!!

Swadish (Merchant City, Glasgow) : Review

V: 12th December 2020

Today was the first day back for all restaurants after the tier here was lowered, which was great for all of the shops restaurants etc

I booked a table and already knew what I would be ordering.

Todays Order

I wanted to try 2 dishes I had never had here before, and thats exactly what I did.

Remember to check out either my previous blogs posts or my VLOGs on Swadish, as Swadish is one of my top places to eat.

My Drink

A Swadish Christmas Mocktail

Unfortunately I cant remember how much this is, but when I find out I will update this post. I also wont say what was in this as it means you have to go and try it!

I will tell you one part…it did have cinnamon in it and wow this was a really tasty mocktail.

When you visit you have to ask for one of these…or two.

The Food

Coconut Broth Mussels £7.50
Scottish Mussels, Green Curried Broth, Spiced Bread.

Mussels are one of those dishes that they are either done really bad or really good, there is never an in-between and thats with either just salt and vinegar or a lovely sauce.

On arrival the presentation was really good, and they smelled as good as they looked.

I dug right in….

These were cooked to perfection and the broth had a lovely flavour, there was no need for extra salt or anything it was really good!!!!!

Main Course

Delhi’s Butter Chicken £13.00
Tender Chicken in rich and silky Tomato Sauce, Brown Onions, Dried Fenugreek, Garam Masala

When I was with my ex this year we followed one of Ajay’s recipes for this, and it turned out very good so today I thought I would order it and see how it was.

How good does this look? now it was tasting time.

This was very creamy, tender chicken and a really really good flavour. I would easily have this again….but next visit I will try something different again 🙂

Was it as good as the one my ex and I made? well that info I will never tell :p

I love Gulab Jamun, and its a fav for me to always end my meal on….well thats if there is still room for a dessert.

How good does this look, and with the ice cream and compote? hmmm never tried it with that before so this would be interesting.

WOW this really worked well!!! I could have easily had another 2 helpings of this!

Cant wait to have this again on my next visit.
