Lunch at Wellshot Deli (Tollcross, Glasgow) 2022 : Review

Todays Visit

I work next-door to the Wellshot Deli, and pop in a lot for my lunch.

Today the guys wanted me to check out their new salt and pepper chicken burger, and I accepted and looked forward to my lunch today.

The Burger

Salt and Pepper Chicken Burger £n/a today (Normally £4.05)
with salt and pepper chips

I sat down and opened the container and the aroma was just so good!

Everything looked and smelled really good, and I couldn’t wait to dig right in.

Let’s start with the chips.

The salt and pepper chips are very very good, they are cooked perfectly and pack a great flavour….these could become very addictive.

Time for the burger…I took a massive bite

The first thing that hit me was the chicken, it was a great flavour and very tender. Then everything else and it worked very very well together and was very very enjoyable.

Together the burger and the chips are the perfect combo of flavours!!

I have walked past this place a few times and thought the food looked very nice, so today I took a visit.

On entering we were instantly greeted and asked if it was for take away or sit in, and then shown to a table.

The Food…

Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs £4.80

IMG_3774.jpg

On arrival this looked very nice, I could see they cut up the ribs rather than bring then whole (maybe to speed up the cooking time).

These were very nice, and had a nice flavour.

If you do order these just be careful as there are bones, just because they are smaller pieces doesn’t mean they are boneless bits.

Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style £6.50

IMG_3777.jpg

This is one of my favourite dishes so I had to try it here and see how it was.

On arrival it looked nice, but this is where it stopped.

The sauce was very runny and had a slight vinegar taste to it, normally when its been like this its the cheaper way to make it so maybe thats whats happened tonight…or vinegar is used to thin down sauce to make it go further….

Overall

This place is a take away trying to be a sit in cafe/restaurant at the same time.

You order at the desk, get the cutlery yourself and all the food just comes at once even though its split in to starters and mains. Since it all came at once and I was at a table for two, the table was too busy and made it difficult to actually enjoy and eat.

By the time I finished my starter my Sweet and Sour chicken was a little cold, plus it wasn’t that good (i’ve had much better).

Personally I don’t know if I would go back, the starter was nice the main not so much….I will need to think on this one.
