It had been a while since I had visited Barca, so today I visited and decided to try a few more dishes.

Just like the last time, we were greeted and shown to a table. This time round we were seated inside, which is a first for me as its always been outside.

The Food :

Pequeña Hamburguesa £6.25
Two beef sliders, toasted brioche bun, chilli jam, and Manchego Cheese

When this arrived I thought this is going to be ok and not that filling, as they looked pretty small (to me that is). Both burgers combined would be roughly a normal burger size.

Oh My God! these were amazing!!! they were so good in flavour I ordered another one, and yes I did finish them.

If you like a tasty burger please do try these, you won’t be disappointed.

Gambas Rebozadas £6.95
Kind prawns in a crisp chilli and coriander batter. Lime mayonnaise dip.

I love king prawns so I was really looking forward to this dish.

For me these were nice, but nothing special. The flavours were nice, the chilli was there but just a small kick. If you don’t like chilli to be honest your safe with this, as the kick is nothing strong its just there and no more.

Overall :

Thats the good thing about being a blogger, I need to try different dishes plus its also good doing this as you get to find items you love, like or not a fan of by trying different things.

The atmosphere was actually nice inside, but personally I think its a little more relaxing outside.

Overall my choices were a mixed review, I really loved the sliders but the prawns for me were just ok.

I had not been to Barca in over a year, not due to any bad reason just I have been trying other places since then so it was time to go back.

I had an itison deal this visit. “Authentic Spanish paella for two plus a carafe of wine to share at Barca Tapas & Cava Bar”

As always I can’t just stick to the voucher, I have to also order a little something else so while we waited for the paella to be ready (about 30-40mins) we ordered a starter.

Starter :

TOSTADA CON SETAS £4.75
Tostadas topped with sauteed wild mushrooms, chilli and honey

IMG_6343 (1).jpg

I am not a fan of mushrooms..then why did I order this you’re thinking. I am trying to start to eat better and healthier….not all the time but slowly be better with my eating habits.

I decided to order this and see what it was like.

This was actually really nice, it was a perfect starter size and had a really nice flavour. The honey and the chilli added a little extra to the flavour, and I would have this again.

The paella….

PAELLA DE VALENCIA
King prawns, calamari, mussels, chicken and chorizo

I won’t comment on how much this normally is as I was using a voucher.

This was to share, and takes roughly about 30 to 40mins to prepare.

This was a good sized portion, but I could have easily had this all to myself.

The calamari was cooked perfectly as it wasn’t that rubbery way, and the chorizo just added extra flavour.

Flavour was really good you could take everything, normally with fish dishes one ingredient is overpowering everything the rice, sauce etc but this was just right.

The Wine…

FUENTE VERDE, GARNACHA ROSADO, CARIÑENA

IMG_6340.jpg

This was a very nice and light rose wine, and was perfect with the paella.

Overall :

Overall tonight was a nice relaxing evening.

With the voucher it was value for money, but even without it I feel if you were to share the paella and split the bill its good value for money.

The eventing was a very nice one, service and atmosphere was good and we both enjoyed our meal.

Finally I am back at Sugar Dumplin for some food, and I brought some friends to see and try the place. So why have I not been back for food you ask? Well, just there are so many places in Glasgow to try and on my list….But I do come here for cocktails so it balances out I think.

Sugar Dumpling is a home from home for me, myself and my best friend have been regulars nearly every single weeks since it opened. The staff (even though its changed) know us by our first name, and are always very welcoming.

We hired a shack for the evening, which was perfect for all of us.

Starter :

Jerk Ribs £5.95 (GF)
Jerk ribs covered in irie sauce topped with sliced chilli and spring onion

Sugar Dumplin Glasgow Jerk Chicken
Sugar Dumplin Glasgow Jerk Chicken

So far for me there are two places that do really good ribs in Glasgow (yes I know I’ve still lots to try but at this point in time). The first is here and the second is Nippon Kitchen.

These ribs were cooked perfect, the meat just slide off the bone and it was tender and really full of flavour.

If you visit this is a must to have as your starter.

Flavour (out of 5) :  5

Main :

Curry Goat £11.95 (GF)
Slow cooked, curry goat off the bone with mixed pepper, potato and Carrots

Sugar Dumplin Glasgow Curry Goat
Sugar Dumplin Glasgow Curry Goat

For me the rice part was a little lacking in flavour, yes I could have added some sauce but it was the first time trying this so I thought I would take it as its made.

The goat well that was a different story it was full of flavour, very tender and just broke up in my mouth.

After and well during the meal we had some drinks and cocktails, but the main part after the meal was shots.

The shots we had  :

  • Cafe Patron Tequila
  • Tequila

You may be shocked to read this but the only time I have had tequila is mixed in a cocktail, and never on its own so this was the first time trying it. I didn’t use any salt or lime, which I know you should as I didn’t actually mind the taste and it was smooth to drink.

The Cafe Patron Tequila now this was am talking about, this was  coffee flavoured Tequila and yes its meant as a shot but you can easily have it as a sipping drink. First time trying this, and also won’t be my last as I liked it a lot.

Visit Overall :

Overall just like anytime I have been in I had a really nice meal, and felt very relaxed. Everyone I was with also enjoyed the food, and we had a very nice evening.
