Hectors Artisan Pizzeria (Dunbar, Scotland) 2022 : Review

The Visit

Today I took a drive with my best friend to see several spots along the coastline, and Dunbar was the first stop.

Here was mentioned a few times in a few videos I watched and also someone my friend knew also said to try here…so we did.

Todays Order

My friend and I decided to get two pizzas both that we could half and try.

Crombies of Edinburgh Belhaven Banger £13
Belhaven Banger (pork sausage with fresh herbs, spices and Belhaven Best) mozzarella, tomato

On arrival this looked so good! and had an amazing smell…I couldnt wait to dig right in!

This was a really really good pizza!

The base was lovely and thin, the crust nice and fluffy and the toppings very fresh and packed with flavour! I enjoyed every single bite!

Highly recommended! and if you do fancy this you have to visit here as its an exclusive to Hectors!

My Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Linton Meatball £13
Linton Butcher meatballs (pork & beef with fresh herbs, chilli and fennel seeds), mozzarella, tomato

Another pizza that looked, and smelled great and we both couldnt wait to dig in to.

Just like the other pizza, this had a lovely thin base, fluffy crust and toppings mega fresh and very tasty.

The meatballs were packed with flavour, and just melted in your mouth!

This place does REALLY good pizza and worth a visit!

My Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Choc-Board £5.00
Chocolates and a mini hot choc from Chocolate Tree, Dunbar

This sounded nice, and the girl today did explain it was small chocolates but said sure lets try it.

Yip she was 100% correct, but after a BIG pizza this was probably a good size.

Both chocolates were nice, and so was the hot chocolate…for me personally at £5 I think its a little too costly maybe if there was 4 chocolates…hmm hard to say.

Overall it was nice but maybe £4 is a better price.

My Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Visit Overall:

I am glad we visited here as the atmosphere was nice, the decor was nice and the service was very good.

Food wise, the pizzas were so so good! and I am adding to my top spots page just for the pizzas!

Overall Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Sannio Restaurant and Bar Soft Launch (Glasgow) 2022 : Review

The Visit

Guys, there is a new kid on the block to check out if you like Italian food.

Sannio has been open for a few months but tonight was the official launch party, and I was lucky enough to be invited to check it out.

Inside

On entering you go down the stairs and are instantly greeted by the lovely staff.

Tonight I was told to expect some tasters, drinks, live music and something special that hasn’t been done in Glasgow before.

I couldn’t wait to find out, till then it was time to try some food.

Tonights Food

From the start of the night to near the end we were brought a selection of tasters including Arancini, Smoked Salmon, Pasta with Italian sausage and several pizzas

My favourite taster was the pizza and the Italian sausage with escalopes.

Now for the announcement

So a first for Glasgow, I really had no idea what it could be so this was going to be interesting to find out what.

GOLD!

** NOTE: Some of the prices on the menu will change from April, keep watching their website for updates. e.g. prosecco, gold cocktails and coffees for £14

When I hear the word Gold I still think of the Spandau Ballet song….

Now this is a cool idea! and tonight I got to try an item from this menu.

We got to try the prosecco which unfortunately I couldn’t try as I was driving, but I did get to try the old Cappucino.

How cool does this look either the prosecco or the cappuccino? I actually felt bad taking a sip of my coffee as it looked so good!

This was a good coffee and the gold topping really added to the experience, there were a few things on the gold menu that I would like to try when not driving like the Gold Pornstar Martini

Visit Overall

Tonight’s visit was very nice, and I look forward to visiting again.

The atmosphere was great, the food was nice and I will pop back to try a few dishes soon so keep watching for that review.

If you’re going to the theatre or want to try a new Italian restaurant then check out Sannio.

The review posted above was not influenced in any way just because it was an invite, all comments and thoughts in this blog post are my 100% honest opinion.

Bistecca (East Kilbride, Glasgow) Takeaway 2021 : Review

The Delivery

I have wanted to try here for ages, but never go around to it and tonight I finally did.

I didn’t know what to order so I just selected two random dishes, and hit order.

Starters

Pollo dorato £5.95

I like a good chicken finger and if its got a nice dip, so when I opened the box these looked good and smelled good.

I took a nice bit with and without the dip.

Without these were very nice, and the chicken was very tender. The coating was light and didn’t take away from the chicken flavour. With the dip mmm yeah they needed a dip just to boost the already existing flavour.

I could easily have these again.

Buffalo Mac n Bacon Pizza £11.00

Yes you read that right, and all my Italian friends and followers will be shouting WHY!!!!!!! but I wanted something random and to see how it tasted.

Visually this looked interesting and it smelled nice, but would it taste nice? well it was time to give it a try.

I took a nice big bite…

Firstly the base was very thick but I think thats because the mac and cheese would make a thin base very soft….the mac and cheese tasted ok and the bacon helped with the overall flavour.

This was very filling, I ate about 3/4 of it and had to leave the rest as I was MEGA full.

Would I order it again? probably not but it was interesting and tasted ok…I think I will stick with the Italian classic pizzas.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Overall :

I am glad I tried here finally, and I will order from them again but maybe something less random.

Do check them out on their Instagram or on JustEat for your next takeaway.
