GIFTED

The guys over at Degusta Box asked if I would like to try their service, and told me a little about them.

About

Enjoy 10 to 15 products, many are completely new to the market! Receive your Degusta Box every month filled with goodies.

All for a cheaper price than you would pay in the shops!

The Goodies

Jaffa Cakes: Orange and Cranberry

This months box has a festive theme to it, and even the Jaffa Cakes have a festive feel.⠀

I love normal Jaffa Cakes and could easily finish any packet off in one sitting, so I was happy to see them included in this delivery.⠀

The flavour “Orange and Cranberry” sounded very interesting, so it was time to taste and see what it was like.

I took a bite and ohh now this was interesting….I could taste the orange and also the cranberry both together worked very very well.

The orange flavour still came through much much more than the cranberry but mmmm yeah very nice⠀

La Boulangère : Plain Brioche Baguettes

These baguettes are soft, and melt in your mouth! I tried one without anything and had to make my lunch with one.

I made a hame and soft cheese baguette, and couldn’t wait to dig in.

This was really really good, I loved how soft it was and tasty.

I am going to get this next visit to my local supermarket.

Lindt – Mint and Orange Treatbar

I have had these before, and if you haven’t you need to try these….well, anything Lindt as their chocolate products are smooth chocolaty and mega moreish.

Mint :  Normally when it comes to most mint chocolate bars, the mint has a cheap or fake taste to it but with this, it was perfect and really nice.⠀

Orange : For me, any orange chocolate is either hit or miss, as like what I said with the mint flavour its got a fake taste to it….but with this nope really good!!!!!⠀

Pip’s Real Hot Chocolate

This hot chocolate contains no trace of any of the 14 major allergens.⠀

I got hot chocolate in the last box, so couldn’t wait to try this one.⠀

This was a new product for me, as I have never heard of them but since it didn’t contain any of the major allergens I was looking forward to seeing how it tasted.

It smelled really nice, now to taste…hmm for me I have a sweet tooth but I could barely taste the chocolate…little disappointed but I still finished it.

KitKat Santa Chocolate Bar and Pouch

Get into the festive feeling with these KitKat chocolate bars and pouches.⠀

How cute and festive do they look? These would be great treats for kids and adults as they taste really good! and put a smile on your face when you see them.

The Santa’s from the pouch had that instantly recognisable flavour of KitKat and so did the Santa Bar, I have to admit these were finished very fast.

KIND Bars

Unfortunately, just like last time, I can’t take these chocolate bars due to the type of nut which I am allergic to…..so for the review I got help and here is what the person thought of these.⠀

KIND Caramel Almond and Sea Salt⠀:

It was very nice, very tasty and very filling. It was very crunchy, and the hint of sea salt added that little extra taste.

KIND Double Dark Chocolate Nut⠀:

It was quality chocolate, that had a very nice texture and taste to it.

Clipper Tea

Enjoy 24 cups of Christmas cheer with their new tea advent calendar. Its filled with their best selling organic teas and infusion flavours.

Look at this! How cool does that look and what a great idea, defiantly to get you into that Christmas mood.

I made myself a wee cup of tea with tea bag number 1 and this is what I thought.

How cute does the tea bag packaging look, now to the taste.

Lets start with the smell, this had a very christmasy aroma which was really nice. It really started to get me in the festive feel, next the taste.

This had a cinnamon taste, and reminded me of that christmasy pinecone scent and VERY lovely to drink.

Daelmans Stroopwafels – Mini Caramel Stroopwafels

I have never heard of these, seen these or even tried these so I was looking forward to trying something new.

These were the perfect size to have as a nibble, or with a coffee or tea.⠀

The taste for me was just ok, they were nice but since I have a sweet tooth the caramel flavour could have been a bit stronger as it was just there and no more for me.

Overall they were nice, and yup you guessed it the packet was finished not long after it opened.⠀

Maille Dijon Original Mustard

French Dijon Mustard….⠀

I am not really a mustard fan, but since this was French, not English I knew it wouldn’t be too strong so I made myself a little lunch.⠀

The smell of this mustard was very nice, so now to taste how my sandwich tasted.⠀

My lunch was very nice, the mustard had just a nice wee kick to it and a nice taste I enjoyed it very much.⠀

Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon⠀

How cool is this? Some wine in this months Degusta Box….really nice touch.⠀

“Yellow label wines are bright, fruit-driven and full of flavour” now to see if this is true.⠀

Chardonnay

I started with the Chardonnay (2018) let me start by saying I am no wine expert, so I can’t say too many things about it apart from if its nice.⠀

This was a nice light white wine, and I really loved its flavour. Yes, I did taste the fruity notes, but that’s really as much as I can say. I would love to learn more about wine

Next on to the Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon (2017)⠀

I don’t tend to go for red wines, more white or rose so this would be interesting to try as just like the other this was the first time I was trying anything by Wolf Blass.

This was a very nice red, I sipped this one as I really liked its flavour and had it alongside my dinner.⠀

Both of these wines I would purchase, as I enjoyed them.⠀

ZEST Pesto (Coriander and Basil Pesto)

Free from artificial anything.

I am a big pesto fan, pesto in my pasta, sandwiches etc its just a great flavour so when I saw this I knew I had to makes some nice pasta to try it.

This was so good, it really made my chicken pasta taste amazing!!

I would use this again when it comes to buying my pesto.

The Goodies

St Pierre 6x Brioche Burger Buns

Go gourmet with St Pierre!

I tried a bun on its own and one with a chicken burger so I could see how it was.

On its own these were very rich in flavour, buttery and really good on their own.

On a chicken burger they added that extra flavour, and were perfect. Next time I will try it with a normal burger and see how it is, but I am sure they will be really good.⠀

The flavour was really good, and mixed with the cheese and salsa each bite was just mmmm

This is one snack I can see myself having on a regular basis

Olly’s Pretzel Thins⠀

Olly’s Pretzel Thins – Salted Original : ⠀

I am a fan of any salted crisps, but it has to have enough salt to tickle my tastebuds.⠀

I popped this open and took a bite.⠀

These were very nice and had enough salt and really enjoyable. I found these very light, and easy to eat and would be a perfect snack or alternative to crisps.⠀

Olly’s Pretzel Thins – Multi-Seed Sesame : ⠀

After trying the salted one these were next on my list.⠀

Ohh I really liked the flavour of these, and just like the salted ones very easy and very moreish.⠀

I highly recommend these :)⠀

Whaoo! Chocolate Filled Crêpes⠀
A parents best friend, and a kids favourite⠀

These are perfect and fun sized for any member of the family, even the adults and will keep hunger at bay.⠀

They are very light, and had a nice flavour and just enough chocolate to make you go mmm⠀

They have no artificial flavours or preservatives so a nice healthy treat for the kids.⠀

Brynmor Chocolate Flapjack
A delicious chocolate coated flapjack.

I love flapjacks, they are a nice wee snack to have to fight hunger and very tasty.

This one was VERY tasty, I don’t know what they did but wow I really liked the flavours of this one and the chocolate was very nice.

I highly recommend this.

Maltesers Hot Chocolate

I used to have hot chocolate all the time, and then dunno why I stopped it but have enjoyed it more recently.⠀

I love Maltesers, and didn’t even know they did hot chocolate so it was thanks to Degustabox I learned about this and got to try it.

This tastes great! I started with just hot water but found If you put it in the milk before heating it up, it does a better job of mixing and melting.

Two words, Addictive and Delicious!!!⠀

  • Overall : 5/5

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Minis

It was only till recently I thought I was allergic to everything nuts, but I found out that peanuts I am 100% fine with and that’s when my love for Reece’s started.

This was included in this months Degustabox and I was very happy to see this, as I have had these before and mmmm they are just so so so so good.

If you love peanuts and haven’t tried these, you are mega missing out.

  • Overall : 5/5

Costa : Instant Coffee

Costa Coffee in the comfort of your own home.⠀

A blend of Arabica and Robusta beans, giving you a great instant coffee in the comfort of your own house.

I made a cup which would be my first coffee in many months, and just decided to take it black so I could taste it properly.

This was really nice and brought back memories when I visited Costa in town.

If your a Costa fan then this is defiantly for you!

Overall : 5/5

YES! Plant Protein Bars

NEW YES plant protein bars, plant-based with nuts!⠀

Almond, Peanut & Double Dark Chocolate : ⠀

Due to this containing Almond, I got a friend to taste and review for me as I can’t do Almonds.⠀

They said, “They loved the texture, and the flavour was really nice and moreish.”⠀

Cashew, Blueberry & Dark Chocolate⠀

Again unfortunately due to cashew, I had to get a friend to review.⠀

They said they enjoyed it just as much as the other Yes bar and would buy both.⠀

Overall : 5/5

Kitkat Senses

This was another new product for me, and again it was thanks to getting the Degustabox.

I love KitKats normal chunky or any other style, so I knew I would love these to….did it? lets see

These are dangerous! super addictive! mega moreish! I loved these and they are the perfect wee treat throughout the day…though I could have easily finished the full box in one go.

Highly recommended and again do check out DegustaBox if your like me and like trying new products.

Overall : 5/5

Kookie Cat Wild Berries

Pocket-sized delicious bite.⠀

“This was a nice little addition to my box, its a lovely combination of cacao butter and lingonberries.”

Unfortunately again since this contained cashew I had to let a friend review, they said “its a pocket-sized bit that packs a lot of flavours and would be great with a tea or coffee”

Wow this was a big box, and I loved how careful it was all wrapped.

I opened it and started to take out all the items, it felt like it was never ending.

Look at all the goodies.

The Goodies

NOTE : Costs shown in this blog may vary depending on the supermarket/store

Hartley’s Jelly Pots
Delicious pots of wobbly jelly, guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

£0.55 for a single pot, £1.65 for 3 pots

I have not had jelly for many years, and always remember when I was a kid I used to have loads.

These sounded very nice, and I couldnt wait to open and dig right in to the wibbly wobbly jelly.

WOW these are amazing!! The flavour was perfect, and not just there like other jellys.

It was really good and so light I had to finish two pots.

McVitie’s V.I.Bs
Mcvitie’s new Very Important Biscuits. Combination of golden biscuit, topped with a layer of chewy caramel and coating of the iconic milk chocolate.

£1.79

These look just like the classic Mcvities we all know and love, with the lovely chocolate top layer. The one that we eat as is, or dunk in to our favourite hot drink.

I decided to eat it as is at first to taste how it was, as this one is the V.I.Bs Caramel Bliss flavour.

I bit into this and instantly had that familiar taste but then the soft chewy caramel hit me. These are mega moreish dry or dunked, and I could have easily had the whole packet…but I decided to be a good boy and save some.

  • Overall : 5/5

Peters Yard Original Sourdough Crispbread
Award winning crispbread made with natural ingredients including their signature sourdough starter.

This was a new product for me, I have never really seen this or heard of this but that’s the fun part here as I love finding new things.

This packet is great to have in your pocket for a quick wee snack, or to have with cheese or a spread.

I decided to take this just as is, as that way I could taste exactly as it is.

These are lovely and thin, nice and crispy and had a really nice taste. I then tried with some butter, then some cheese and all worked really well with these.

I would get these again, as I was very surprised and enjoyed them.

EMILY Veg Thins

I started with the Chipotle BBQ packet, as it sounded very interesting.

These had a really nice flavour to them, and one that I wouldnt want to dip as it would spoil it…but thats a personal preference.

These were so light, full of flavour I finished the packet in one sitting. I didnt feel full, so these would be a perfect mid day snack to fight those hunger pangs.

Next on to the Sea Salt packet.

These were very nice, a good amount of salt to give it some flavour and again very moreish.

Just like the other packet, these were very light and easy to eat and again would be a perfect mid day snack.

  • Overall : 5/5

Amy’s Kitchen Organic Vegetable Barley Soup
Classic comforting flavours.

£1.89

I am not really a soup person, I will take it if its put down to me but its not the first thing I would order when I go out for a meal unless there wasnt anything else I fancied.

This was actually ok, it had a nice flavour and very filling and doesn’t have many calories which is good if your someone who is calorie counting.

If I spotted this and I did fancy soup, it is something I would try again.

  • Overall : 4/5

Naked Five Minute Noodles – Japanese Chicken Yakisoba
A delicious range of asian stir fry noodles.

£1

I decided to try these just as they are, rather than add anything else to the mix so I got a true flavour.

These were very easy to prepare, and very fast to prepare which is great if you want a quick meal.

With my first bit I could taste the flavour, and it had a very very slight kick which added to the really nice flavour. For me I wish I did add something else to the mix, but to be honest I was very impressed with this and it was fine to eat it as is.

RHYTHM108 Sweet ‘N’ Salty Almond Bar

£1.49

Unfortunately almonds is one of the nuts I am allergic to, so I had to get help to review this item.

  • Overall : 5/5

Thatchers Cloud Lemon
Perfect balance of sharp notes from lemons and sweetness from specially selected apples.

£5.50 per 4-pack

I have recently started to try more ciders, and have enjoyed them as a change to beers or wine.

I have never tried a lemon cider, so this was going to be interesting for me.

This was a very interesting cider for me, it had a nice flavour and a nice aftertaste but it just didnt hit the spot for me as I prefer the other flavours of cider.

Dont get me wrong, it was very nice and refreshing but for me I think I need more than just lemon.

  • Overall : 4

Nakd Drizzled Chocolish Bars Multipack
Perfect for a chocolate lover looking for a healthier alternative

£3.00

Due to this containing a type of nut I am allergic to, again I needed to get some help in reviewing this item.

Whitworths Chocolate Biscuit & Hazelnut Treat Mix
A new snack that you can feel good eating.

“The combination of the biscuit, hazelnut and fruit was a perfect mouthful and very addictive”

  • Overall : 5/5

Lucozade Revive
New from Lucozade, Revive is a naturally inspired uplift.

£1.49

I have tried nearly all of Lucozades drink in the past, and enjoyed all the new flavours so I was excited to see how this was compared to what I had in the past.

Firstly the labelling was very nice, I liked how I could see the colour of the drink and it wasn’t too in your face.

I decided to take this to work, and drink it there.

This was a very refreshing drink, and one that I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

The lemon and lime flavour was not overpowering, it was just the perfect balance and left me wanting more.

  • Overall : 5/5

FULFIL Chocolate Hazelnut Whip Bar
A smooth chocolate hazelnut whip

£2.00

Due to this containing a type of nut I am allergic to, again I needed to get some help in reviewing this item.

This is what they said “These are delicious. They have a crumbly cookie texture, and an incredible flavour.”⠀

  • Overall : 5/5

St Lawrence Gold Pure Canadian Maple Syrup
A delicious tasting maple syrup

£1.00

Now who doesnt love pancakes and syrup? these were a fav when I was a child and still is….I am a big kid 🙂

I got the two wee bottles and couldnt wait to pour them over a pancake and dig in.

To start with I poured a little over one pancake, and took a taste to see how it was.

This was really nice, a perfect amount of sweetness that made the perfect bite.
