Joia Italian (West End, Glasgow) 2021: Review

The Visit

I recently visited a lot of Italian restaurants, and had really great meals and said I would be back…I always keep my word and today I was in the West End and decided to visit one of them.

The Food

I really enjoyed what I got at my last visit, I had to order it again.

Starter

Olive Ascolane £5.95
Deep Fried Stuffed Olives / Truffle Mayo / Pulled Beef & Pork

On my first visit here which was also my last, I had these and instantly loved them.

The slight crunch then the burst of flavour followed by the slight olive after taste it was perfect and extremely moreish!

So I had it again at tonight’s visit.

Tonight it was exactly as my first time, and highly recommended.

Rigatoni Carbonara £11.95
Rigatoni Pasta/Black Pepper/Egg Yolk/Pecorino/ Guanciale

This was anther dish I had last time, and loved it so much I had to try it again tonight.

This was exactly as I remembered, the pasta perfectly cooked, and the guanciale just melted in my mouth and added massive amounts of flavour.

This is now one of my favourite pasta dishes.

Pannacotta £6.95
Bone-Marrow / Saffron / Red Wine Caramel / Cherries

I said to the guys here last time that on my next visit I would try this….and I kept my word

I have never tasted bone-marrow before so I didn’t really know how this would taste but its always fun to try something new.

hmm ok so it was a nice taste but different…I think its one you either will love or just think is so so.

Would I have it again? hmm maybe but I will try some of their other dishes next time.

As I said I had visited a few Italian restaurants recently and all had great food so I thought I would pop back to them all and share their great food with you.

Tonight’s visit was very nice, the staff very friendly and the food was amazing.
