The Old Bank (Battlefield Road, Glasgow) 2022: Review

Todays Visit

I was lucky to be invited to the opening of the Old Bank, where I was going to get to sample some of their food. I set a date in my calendar and time slot and headed there.

On arrival I loved the welcome balloons outside, this was a great idea as it was very eye catching for the blogger event plus everyone walking past or driving past.

On entering I was greeted and told about the wee welcome snack.

This was a really nice touch, as while sampling it, we could look around and take pics etc

This was very nice and the drink was a mocktail which was perfect as I was driving today.

The Inside

On entering I was very impressed with how it looked, it was bright, warm and had a nice cosy atmosphere to it.

It was much bigger inside than I thought it would be, and has a little side area with more seats to which is great.

I sat down and started taking pics and enjoying my nibbles.

The Food

At todays visit we were shown the menu, and had to choose a wee dish that caught our attention.

For me everything sounded good, and a few names sounded very interesting as I have never heard of them.

Small Plates £N/A tonight
Samosas and Pakoras. Accompanied with Old Bank sauce.

For me Pakora is normally my go to starter, so a samosa was a nice change…well yes I was getting both to try but you know what I mean.

On arrival they looked very nice, so it was now time to taste.

The samosa was very nice, had a nice crisp outside and a very nice filling.

The pakora was perfectly cooked, and with the dip it took it to another level…it was very nice.

Overall they were nice starters.

Main Course

Onion Bhaji Naaniza

I have had Onion Bhaji’s before but never one with this name so I had to check it out and see what it was like.

On arrival this was not how I imagined it would look, but the smell was very very good coming from it and I couldnt wait to dig right in.

This was an interesting flavour, but a very nice one. It did and didn’t taste like an onion bhaji as there was something else coming through but I couldn’t put my finger on it…but it was very very tasty.

I could easily have this again!

Visit Overall

Firstly a big thanks to the guys at the Old Bank for my invite, and as always the review you have just read is 100% honest and hasn’t been influenced in anyway.

Here was a very nice visit, I think it will do very well as it stands out from the rest of the restaurants etc nearby.

I will add here to my list to revisit and try some other dishes, so keep watching this space.
