DryGate Brewery NEW Bar Food and Cocktail Menu (Glasgow) : Review

Invited

V: 6th March 2020

The guys over at DryGate Brewery, invited me over to the launch night of their new bar Food and Cocktail menu.

Looking Around

I have been to Drygate many times, with friends or with the craft beer tasting tours so I know it very well.

The event tonight was upstairs, the new menu for upstairs only.

The Food

I didnt know what was in store for me tonight, but I was mega looking forward to it.

I was told that a sampler would be brought round to me, and I could select 2 cocktails to try which was great.

Sampler

  • Pizza By The Slice
  • Cauliflower Wings (VG)
  • Tacos : Crisp Fried Haddock
  • House Made Nachos (V)

All of these samples were very nice, and full of flavour, my favourite from this selection was the Cauliflower Wings and I could have easily had more.

The fish taco was nice, but the taco broke up for me very easily so I couldn’t grab and eat, I had to use my knife and fork.

And there was more..

This was Drygates Vegan Curry was served in a tiffin tray with bread, rice and dips.

Presentation wise I really liked this, and as you can see its very instagramable…..now for the taste..

This was a VERY good curry, and extremely moreish.

If you like currys you need to try this, and I promise you you wont regret it.

Cocktails :

Orinoco Russian : Vodka, Coffee Liqueur, Orinoco Syrup, Milk and Cream Chocolate

and

Pineapple Rum Old Fashioned : Plantation Pineapple Rum, Sugar and Orange Bitters

Both these cocktails were very good, but my fav and one I would definitely have again is the Orinoco Russian mmmmm so good 🙂

Visit Overall :

Note : Just because this was an invite, that has not influenced my thoughts in any way. The above is a 100% honest review of the day.

Firstly a big thanks to DryGate for my invite, I really had a great time and good food and cocktails.

I really loved the Cauliflower Wings and the Drygate Vegan curry, these were my top two dishes from tonight.

Overall I can recommend you visit and try the new menu and the cocktails, as I really enjoyed what I had. Thanks again guys 🙂

See you soon

La Laterna 1 Year Birthday Party : Event Review

The guys at La Laterna were lovely to invite me to their 1-year birthday party, and I couldn’t miss this as I love Italian food and it sounded fun.

I have been here several times but only ever done one review (you can view it here).

For me, up until last time, it was just so-so, and my last visit was nice. Don’t get me wrong, I am not sure why I felt this way but it was just how I felt so I was looking forward to going back and trying the food again.

Tonight we were told there would be food to sample, tapas style which was in keeping with the new menu and some cocktails plus music….this sounded like a fun night.

Arrived…

Inside is very cosy, it’s not the biggest restaurant but has a really nice atmosphere.

The Food

The food was served up in a buffet style which was perfect for tonight’s party, that way everyone could help themselves to what they wanted and how much

I was told tonight that here was changing their menu to be Italian Tapas, which I think is a good idea as its becoming a very popular trend.

They brought out round 1 of the food, so I headed up and took a little of everything.

Round 2

Round 3 & 4

Round 4

As you can see everyone tonight was spoiled, and very very well fed.

The food tonight some will be found on the new menu, and some were just for tonight. Due to this, I will tell you the ones I liked from the above.

I narrowed it down to my top 5 from tonight.

The first looked like a small calzone, and it basically was and the flavour was so so good!!! so good I had to have 3 🙂 Next was Arancini and WOW so so good again!! the flavours were perfect and again I was a little greedy and had 3 🙂

The pasta came out near the end and it was worth the wait, there were three types I only sampled two. One was a meatball pasta and one was a crab/prawn pasta, both the flavours were perfect and very very moreish.

Overall :

I am very impressed with everything tonight, and more so the food! The last few times I have been here I enjoyed the food but thought it was just ok…..tonight really changed my mind and can’t wait to come back to try more of the new menu.

I am very happy I got this invite and could be part of the celebration with everyone tonight, congratulations to everyone and thanks again 🙂

See you soon!!

Grazie mille

I had heard a few weeks back that a change was coming to Nam Tuk, and it was with regards to the menu. Some dishes added and some dropped, but I didn’t know what ones…

I know I have been here loads recently but the food is very good, so when I heard this I was like ohhh noooo so I had to take a visit and sample some dishes…plus this is where I will be filming my next Blogger Meets Blogger YouTube Episode….so time to do some research.

The Food…

Starter

Mixed Seafood and Chive Dumplings £6.95

IMG_7536

This is a new dish on the menu, and I have had dumplings from a few places near Nam Tuk and thought just meh….so I had to try these to compare.

Instantly after the first bite, it was an explosion of flavour and even with the sauce still amazing.

For me this is the place to go for Dumplings if you are in the West End of Glasgow.

Salt & Chilli Chips £2.95

I love Salt and Chilli Chips and have only found one Chinese that does them really good, so I thought lets see what here is like.

These are just as good as that Chinese, and EXTREMELY moreish!!!!

I know it says chilli but its not got a massive kick which is perfect for me, so please dont be put off by the name if you dont tend to go for anything chilli.

These are now as MUST order for me along with the Yam Yam Wings.

Traditional Chicken Curry £9.50

I had not had a chicken curry for a long long time, normally its a Korma or a special curry so a traditional one sounded good.

This hit the spot! YUM sums it right up!!

Overall I was a little nervous when I heard here was changing the menu, but tonight put my mind at ease!.

I will be back as I visit the West End a lot these days, so I will keep trying different dishes and let you know what I think.

See you soon.
