Another year, another new place for me…I love coming across new places to eat.

Fpizza were lovely and sent me an invite to come along and try them out, and I accepted and added to my calendar.

Fpizza is newly opened and in the town centre of Milngavie, and is about a 7 min walk from Milngavie train station so it’s very easy to find.

Looking Around

On entering I was welcomed and shown to my seat.

Looking around Fpizza it had a very nice and relaxing decor, and it was a busy night and the atmosphere was good.

Where I was seated I had a great view of the whole place, and looking around everyone was enjoying themselves and the food….now it was time to eat!

The Food…

I decided I wanted to have one pizza and one side and that’s all….well unless I had room left for some ice cream.

The pizza I went for was Number 7 normally £9.5 but free tonight thanks to Fpizza.

Tomato, mozzarella, rocket, prosciutto, parmesan shavings and evoo

Sorry for the more red tones through the photos, where I was sitting there was a red light behind me.

I also added Tuscan Sausage to this order….normally extra toppings are £2.

As soon as the plate touched the table, I was ready to dig in!!

The first thing I noticed was how good the flavours were than how good the base was….it was thin and really good. Everything about this pizza worked!!!

I was very full by the time I finished this, but I wasn’t that over full way I normally am when it comes to eating pizza… I was a comfortable full if you get me.

Polenta Chips (Rosemary & Parmesan) £6 (N/a tonight)

I decided to have a side mostly due to curiosity, and normally I go for fries as my side so I decided to try this.

Firstly this was a good sized portion, 2 or even 3 sticks would have been perfect and still good value for money.

If you are thinking of normal fries then you will be very surprised by Polenta fries, as they are very different and taste very different. These were very nice, had a nice crunch and flavour.

For me, I think I will stick with normal fries, but this is a personal preference but please do try them they are really nice.

Firstly I would like to say a big thanks to Fpizza for my invite, I had a really nice time and it’s always great to find new places 🙂 ones that I will definitely be going back to.

For me, I really enjoyed the pizza, and left feeling a good full rather than the difficult to digest full I sometimes get when eating pizzas. I think this is mostly due to the the base, as it was very nice and thin.

Fpizza is now in my top 4 pizza places, and on my Top Spots page.

As I said at the start Fpizza is easy to get to from Glasgow, a train then a very short walk and I promise its worth it.

See you soon 🙂

I was at work when I got a ding in my email, and took a look and it was an invite to come along to Burger & Bun to see the place and try the food. I kindly accepted and then worked out how I would be getting there.

Normally as you know I frequent in Glasgow centre or the West End, but Milngavie (Bearsden)? this is a place I have never been to unless passing through.

Burger & Bun is basically opposite the Hillfoot train station, so this was very easy to get to from Glasgow Central Station.

On the outside to the side of the restaurant, there is a nice little seating area for when its sunny.

On entering we were seated next to the window, which was nice as I could look out at the nice evening.

The Food…

I could see a few burgers I wanted to try, but I asked for a recommendation so thats what I went with.

Pulled Pork Burger £8.50 (Tonight £N/A)
Slow roast pork, BBQ Sauce, Appleslaw, Crispy Onions

When this arrived it looked as good as it smelt, and I couldn’t wait to take a BIG bite.

This was a very good burger!!!! the flavours were perfect and very nice. The burger was perfectly cooked and had really nice flavour, and very tender.

Ive had a few burgers recently some bad and some good, this falls in the very good category!

Cheesy Fries £4.00 (Tonight £N/A)
Cheddar Sauce, Carmelised Onions, BBQ Sauce

When this arrived my first thought was OH MY GOD!!! why? because it was a massive portion!!

Recently I had cheesy fries from another burger restaurant and NOT GOOD!! so I thought lets try the ones here.

Apart from being a massive portion……these were REALLY good!!! skinny fries, nice cheese and onions….perfect!!

Unfortunately I only ate half, as I was leaving room for the milkshake which originally I thought was a normal one but you will see when you continue to read.

Crazy Shake : Creme Egg £6.00 (Tonight £N/A)

Another OMG moment tonight! When placing the order I was told it was more like a desert, but I thought maybe a thick heavy shake but I ordered it anyway.

Once it was on the table, I could see what was meant by the desert comment.

At this point I was feeling very full, but hey there is always room for chocolate 🙂

This was as good as it looks!!! next time I will order a normal milkshake but I am glad I got to try this!!

Also for £6 amazing value!!!

Everyone knows that when you go out for Christmas dinner its never going to be perfect, it’s a very busy day for the location and staff so something has to go wrong….well most of the time.

My Starter :

Duck Liver, Orange and Whiskey Parfait
“Red onion marmalade, textures of beetroot with ciabatta wafer”

Duck Liver, Orange and Whiskey Parfait

For me you can’t really go wrong with pate unless your one of those people who prefer smooth over chunky, I like both so am ok.

This was very nice, the pate was full of flavour and I really enjoyed it.

What I do hate but this applies to every restaurant that does pate is, you always get more pate than what it comes with to spread on.

Intermediate :

Parsnip and Honey Soup (v) :
“Rosemary and garlic crumb”

Parsnip and Honey Soup

For me the soup was very nice, again you could easily taste the honey and the parsnip. The amount you were given tonight was perfect, as there were still a few courses to follow.

Main :

Wild Mushroom, Leek and Spinach Wellington (v)
“Confit new potato, shallot purée and herb dressing”

Wild Mushroom, Leek and Spinach Wellington

So recently I have been trying to be a little good and go for a healthier option every now and then, so I decided to try this as the other items didn’t really appeal to me.

This was nice, maybe not as full of flavour as I would have liked but it was nice.

Sweet :

Sugar Coated Brioche Doughnuts :
“Jack Daniel’s Honey” chocolate dipping sauce

Sugar Coated Brioche Doughnuts

What can I say anything sugarcoated or has chocolate sauce is a winner for me, and yes this was very nice.

Overall :

I had heard this was their first time doing Christmas dinner and unfortunately it did show, the time between courses was just too long. I know we weren’t in any rush, but it was just a little too long.

The reason for this was there was no set time for people to arrive, just turn up at a pre booked time rather than the hotel saying “there are two sittings one at x time and the other at x time”. so this caused a little problem, and the staff were all over the place.

This pre planned sittings would have been better, as all coursers were coming out of the kitchen at different times so some tables would be starting and some would be finishing. This meant that there were delays with some times in getting courses, and we unfortunately were included in the delay area.

Atmosphere this was just ok, there was Christmas music playing in the background and some Christmas decorations. To be honest I don’t know what it was missing, maybe the tables could have had some more decorations, I just don’t know but it was an ok atmosphere but didn’t really feel Christmasy.

Apart from the delays, I can’t really fault the food it was very nicely presented and also tasted nice.
