Doughnut Burger (Luther Burger) : Recipe

Unfortunately at the time of making this the shops near me didn’t have any normal glazed donuts so I just opted for this one instead.

A Luther Burger, or doughnut burger (among several naming variations), is a hamburger or cheeseburger with one or more glazed doughnuts in place of the bun.

YIELD 2 burgers

INGREDIENTS

For The Burger

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Ground Beef (80% lean)
  • 1 Egg

Topping

  • 6 slices quality smokey bacon
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 2 glazed donuts

Extras for Candied Bacon

  • Maple syrup
  • Brown sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

Burger

  1. In a bowl add the Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and pepper in a large bowl and gently mix for 10 seconds
  2. Now add the mince and mix for 60 seconds
  3. Break an egg in to the bowl as this is your binding issue and mix well
  4. Let the mince sit for around 5 minutes
  5. Form your hamburger patties.
  6. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  7. Add the burgers and cook until desired temperature, 4 to 5 minutes per side for medium-rare.

Candied Bacon

Its up to you if you want to make sweet bacon, normal bacon tastes just as good with this

  1. Fry bacon in a hot pan until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels. Set aside.
  2. Combine the maple syrup, and brown sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Return bacon to the skillet, brush with the glaze, and turn. Cook glazed side down for 2 minutes over low heat. Glaze, turn, and cook for an additional 2 minutes over low heat.
  4. Repeat until all of the glaze is used and serve immediately.

The Donuts

  1. Cut the donuts in half and lightly butter the cut sides
  2. Place the cut sides down on a very warm frying pan and keep until slightly crispy 

End Product

I added some cheddar at the bottom just to be different ūüôā
  1. Place burger patties on glazed donuts, as the buns.
  2. Top each burger with bacon and two slices of cheese

Well well well, finally another one scored off my list to visit.

As you maybe have noticed I am spending a little more time at the West End of Glasgow, and today I finally got to try my first Bread Meats Bread. A few blogger friends have been and loved it, and its always mega busy in Glasgow centre so it was time to visit.

A few years ago I started to try and learn how to cook, and I was watching Man vs Food and saw this featured and thought to myself yup I need to make this. I did and it was very nice, so when I saw this on the menu I had to take this and see how it’s really done.

Well, this was really good!!!! and I could have easily had two as for me this was actually a very light burger. It didn’t sit heavy for me and was easy to eat.

I was a little bit of a pig today, as my girlfriend found her burger too much for her so guess who had half…yup on top of the Luther Burger.

OMG!!! what a flavour this burger had!!! it was full of amazing taste with every mouthful.

I only had half of this burger but I will try it fully next time, and do a full segment on it.

Sweet Potatoes = Nice, Maple Syrup = Sweet n nice and Bacon = Always a winner….this combined was very tasty.

Overall :

Overall my first visit was really good and many many calories, but that said I had a really nice time and I think Bread Meats Bread is now my favourite place to get burgers.

I am 100% going back as I want to try more burgers!!!!!
