Oro Italian Restaurant (South Side, Glasgow): Review

V: 20th December 2020

I have wanted to visit Oro for a while now, but I have never really been in the area.

Today I was meeting friends for lunch, so I was looking forward to seeing Oro, the friends and trying the food.

Venue

On entering the restaurant is split into two areas the main area when you walk in, and the back area down the stairs….this is where I was seated today.

First impressions really nice visually, and had a nice relaxing and cosy feel.

Where I was seated unfortunately wasn’t too bright, so my photos don’t do the food justice.

The Food

I had no idea what to order, so I just opted for the first thing that caught my attention as everything sounded really nice.

Next time I will try a pizza.

Appetiser

Crab Cakes £7.95

On arrival this looked really nice, and I liked the presentation….now time to taste.

Wow I was very impressed! the flavour was really good and I liked the mixture of the sauces with it.

The red sauce you can see was a sweet chilli so it added a nice subtle kick but didn’t over power the rest of the flavours.

Main Course :

Chicken Risotto £13.95

WOW this was a big portion! and look at how it was presented….for me this is a first to see risotto presented like this.

This smelled nice, and my mouth started to water so time to dig in.

mmmm this was a good risotto, the flavour, and perfectly cooked. My only issue was I wish I didnt have a starter, as I was full 2/3 of the way through so I had to take the rest home with me.

If you visit and love risotto I recommend you try this.

Fratelli’s (Cambuslang, Glasgow) takeaway via FoodHub : Review

GIFTED

The guys over at FoodHub gifted me with a wee voucher to order a meal and again check out their app.

The app is just like your other takeaway ordering apps, see my other review here

I wanted to try another place I have not used for a while, so I opted for Italian tonight.

The Food

I have ordered a takeaway from here a good few years ago, and enjoyed it at that point and as I said I felt like an Italian tonight so thought would check them out again.

Drink

187ml Pinot Grigio White £3.25

I am not a big wine drinker, it is an area I would like to learn more about so I cant go into loads of details about this.

For me this was very nice, light and worked perfect with my meal tonight.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Main Course :

Spaghetti Carbonara £7.80

Carbonara can be done two ways, the good way and the bad way with cream….this I was very happy to see was done the good way.

This was really good! the flavour and everything about it was really nice.

It was a massive portion, as I ate 2/3’s of the portion as it was very filling.

I would have this again.

Desert :

Biscoff Cheesecake £4.95

My eyes are always bigger than my belly….as the saying goes….and I had to check out this cake as Biscoff anything is ALWAYS really nice.

So after my Carbonara I waited a while till I wasnt feeling as full, and started to eat this.

This was really nice, I liked the flavour and texture.

Note : Just because this was gifted, that has not influenced my thoughts in any way. The above is a 100% honest review of the food.

Firstly a big thanks to FoodHub again, the service from the app just like the last few times has been perfect!

Service and food from Fratelli’s was really good, I was very impressed with the quality and the portion size.

I have no issued recommending either FoodHub App (IOS & Android) and Fratelli’s.

Little Italy (West End, Glasgow) : Review

V: 7th November 2020

** This was typed up before lockdown 2.0, please check the restaurant to see if they do takeaway or visit it when it reopens**

Since I was back here I had to try new dishes, even though the Focaccia from last time was sooo good.

Stuffed Mushrooms £4.50

I opted for this, and on arrival, the presentation was really nice and I couldn’t wait to dig in.

The cheese, onions and mushroom all worked very well together.

I was very impressed with the flavours of this dish, and would have it again.

Pizza Slice (Pepperoni)

After the starter, I opted to go for a pizza slice and pepperoni as my topping.

This was a very good sized portion, and mmm very nice. The pepperoni was really nice, and every bite was very tasty.

For a slice this was very filling, and I cant wait to try more pizza or slices at my next visit.
