The Lee Burn (East Kilbride) : Review

V: 14th August 2020

Tonight we visited the Lee Burn as my grandparents wanted to take us out for a meal.

I have been here before but it was ages ago.

The Food

As I said it was ages ago when I was last here, so I couldn’t remember what I had or how good or bad it was.

I recently lost my appetite so I wasn’t too hungry tonight, so I skipped my starter and just went for my main meal.

I didn’t know what to order, so I took a chance on a burger and just randomly selected one.

The Burger

Smothered Chicken Burger £11.99

Golden-fried breaded butter chicken topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, and Brewdog punk IPA BBQ sauce.

Presentation was nice, and I didnt expect as many chips.

The chips were very nice, as I always love skinny fries and they didnt need any salt.

The burger had a really nice flavour, but the cheese seemed to have dried up which was a-shame. It needed some cheese to take away the full crisp bite, or some sauce but overall it was very tasty and filling.

Visit Overall :

Tonight was a nice night with my parents and grandparents.

The atmosphere was good, and we all enjoyed out meals.

It was nice to try somewhere different and also just randomly pick something from the menu.

Strathaven Hotel Family Dinner (Strathaven) : Review

V: 1st August 2020

Today we decided to go visit the Stathhaven Hotel for a late lunch come dinner.

We have been there many times before, mostly for Christmas dinner so it was going to be nice to come and try it outside the festive season.

Looking Around

Today we were sitting in another area, and it looked really nice!!

We were in the bar area, but at the back in our own wee are which was really good as it was very private and had a really nice relaxing feel.

The Food

As I said most of the times we come are for our family Christmas dinner, and the food has always been nice.

So I couldn’t wait to try todays menu.

Appetiser

Crispy Sweet Potato £6.00
truffle oil, coconut yogurt, spiced pumpkin seeds

I love sweet potato, and sweet potato chips so I couldnt wait to see how this tasted.

Visually this looked really nice, as you can see from the picture….it smelled nice so it was now time to dig in.

All the flavours came through with every mouthful, this was so good and I loved the little aftertaste of the truffle oil mmmm this was a great choice and one I would have again.

Main Course :

Strathaven Ale Crispy Beer Battered Haddock £13.00
skinny fries, pea purée, tarter sauce

On arrival I thought I ordered Jaws, this fish was massive!

I started with the fries, and I am so glad it was skinny fries as they are my fav! These fries were perfectly cooked, and had just the right amount of salt already on them.

The fish had a nice coating of batter, and tasted so so good.

Unfortunately I had to leave around half the fish as I was so full! if I had known it was this big I would have skipped my starter.

Just like the previous visits the staff have always welcomed us, they are very friendly and the service has always been really good.

The food today was really good, and I will be coming back to try other dishes.

The Little Cafe (Glasgow, West End) : Review

The Little Cafe
1361 Argyle Street
Glasgow

V: 10th December 2019

I have walked past The Little Cafe many times when going different places, and always looked in and thought I need to check them out.

I saw from the window they did pizzas and ciabattas etc, last Saturday I popped in and got a ciabatta for lunch and it was VERY GOOD.

Today I went in for dinner and here is what I thought.

Looking Around

Inside is just like a little cafe, with some booths and some tables.

Tonight was very busy but we managed to get a table, and started to think what to order.

Pizza :

Chorizo Pizza £8.00

On arrival it looked a good size and visually very nice.

The flavours were really nice, and the base was thin which after finishing the pizza I found it very easy to digest where other times I have had pizza I felt a little bloated.

The base was a little crispy, but I didn’t mind as the flavour was very good.

Visit Overall :

Overall I enjoyed my pizza, and already planning on going back to try a few other dishes and the cakes as they looked good.

I got talking to the owner / chef and he is a really nice guy, and inside had a nice cosy friendly atmosphere.

See you soon Little Cafe.
