My Visit to Troon (Scotland)

Visit Date : Saturday 25th March 2017

Location : Troon Beach & Marine Troon Hotel

Today I went to Troon with my parents and girlfriend, and the weather was looking nice so it was going to be a very nice day.

I had heard that Troon were holding a street market today, so we thought lets take a look while we are down as we had booked Afternoon Tea at the Marine Troon Hotel.

The Market :

Before going I didn’t really hear much about it, or what stalls were going to be there.

We arrived about a few hours after it started (starting time 10am & arrived 1pm), and I counted about maybe 10 stalls. Most of the stalls didn’t have much left, and the stalls were just ok you had some fish, soup, soaps, plants and sweets stalls. It was a good selection, but I just expected more.

What I did like was the atmosphere, there was a lot of people and the weather was good and the place had great atmosphere. Everyone was enjoying themselves, the children were enjoying the sun and eating ice cream cones it was a nice day.

The Beach :

For me out of the places I have visited (so far) this has the nicest and cleanest beach. Standing on the beach you have a wonderful view (if its a nice day) of the Isle of Arran.

As you can see from my photos, today was a really nice day. The sun was out, the view was amazing and everyone on the beach was having a nice time.

For more info about the beach visit this link : Visit Scotland : Troon Beach

Afternoon Tea :

Location : The Marine Hotel

I have never been inside The Marine Hotel, I have only passed it when heading to Troon beach.

From what I saw from inside its very nicely decorated.

We were seated and asked who was on Tea or Coffee, and brought a glass of Prosecco each.

The atmosphere today was very nice and very relaxing.

The afternoon tea was presented nice, and had a good selection. Everything was nice and fresh, and as always you can’t beat a scone cream and jam.

Overall my day visit to Troon, was really nice and relaxing and I look forward to returning on another nice day…maybe even for a picnic on the beach.

My Grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary at the Glasgow Blysthwood Hotel

Event Date : Saturday 11th February 2017

Not many people these days stay married, not many people these days get married.

It’s a rare thing these days to hear anyone married for more then 50 years, most people tend to just be life long partners but what matters most is that you love the person you are with.

The good parts and the bad parts, this is true love not caring about the past just caring about the present and your future with them.

My Grandparents were 60 years married, and 60 years still happy not may can say this.

Tonight was the celebration event for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary, and it was being held at the Glasgow Blysthwood Square Hotel.

Website : www.blythswoodsquare.com/partner/glasgow-blythswood-square/

11 Blythswood Square
Glasgow G2 4AD

On arrival the event room was empty as I got here early, so it was a good time to get some good photos.

The cake was really lovely and elegantly decorated, we also had really pretty balloons.

The company used was Cloud Nine Cake Centre

At Cloud Nine Cake Centre we specialise in celebration cakes and everything you need to make your own if you prefer! We can create something amazing for your wedding or party and we supply cake decorating supplies to businesses and schools all over the country.

The room was decorated very nicely, there were anniversary balloons around the room. There was a nice white dance floor, which you can rent from the Hotel for any special occasion.

I took a video which is on my Instagram feel free to check it out : VIEW

As everyone turned up we all waited in the lower bar area, where a Saxophone player was playing in the background.

His name was Andy Weaver he was very good and the music created a nice welcoming atmosphere. Please check him out on his Facebook page below.

Once everyone had arrived we all went to our tables.

Since I am a food blogger I couldn’t not take photos of the food tonight.

We were given a menu which to be honest I didn’t really get a change to study, as I was busy chatting with people.

I made a quick decision when ordering but it was a good one.

Starter :

Smooth chicken liver parfait, toasted brioche, Onion chutney and rocket

abfa81f9-3258-419f-95e8-26885b697269

I am a big fan of Pate and this was full of flavour, having it on the brioche just set it off and was really good.

Again anywhere you go and order Pate they never give you enough whatever to spread it on, you always get a larger amount of Pate then the toast etc….I really wish I knew why they did this.

Main :

Seared supreme of Chicken with chive mashed potato, leek fondue, fine beans with shallots, Cherry tomatoes and red wine sauce

2ca982b4-0110-4d5e-8881-591f191f3ae0

For me this was the only option on the menu that sounded ok, the other option I wasn’t really a fan of so this was my fall back.

I am glad it was a fall back, the chicken was cooked really nice.

The leek fondue was my favourite as what ever they did to it, it was a really nice flavour and I could have had more.

Dessert :

Vanilla panna cotta , mango and kiwi salsa, passionfruit syrup and Chantilly cream

A44BAF55-A367-4D40-A522-8EE9AA46718F.JPG

There is always room for dessert.

This was very light, very easy to eat and had a nice flavour.

To finish we had a coffee or tea.

Through the meal and a little after the mean singer Henrick Solera.

I have now met Henrick a few times, as he has been at most of the events we have held at the Blysthwood Hotel.

My little cousin Danielle also sang a song with him, again a proud cousin here as thats something I couldn’t do even if I could sing in tune. Its only a short clip as the full video is 3mins long, and Instagram limit size.

The evening went very well, and my grandparents had a lovely time.

This was a special moment for all the family, my grandparents and friends. Again I would like to wish them a Happy Anniversary

Home from Home Lido di Jesolo Italy

Most of you that know me know how much I like going to Italy, for those that don’t well you’re going to learn a little more about me and a little about Italy.

Since I was about 9 months old I have been going to Italy every year, to be more specific a place called Lido di Jesolo. From a young age I have stayed in many hotels up and down Jesolo, some are now gone or have been taken over.

Lido di Jesolo is a beach resort near Venice, the beach and resort is very long with many shops, hotels and places to eat.

Why do I keep going back? No, I don’t have any family in Italy my parents just feel in love with the location as its near Venice and a few other places.

Lido di Jesolo for me is a home from home now, as soon as the plane lands I am instantly relaxed. I know where places are, and how to get to them.

I love the food, beach and seeing Venice.

Years ago I met a family from England, and for years we kept meeting every year. This was something I always looked forward to, as I could meet them again. We stayed and still do keep in touch with this family all these years.

What you will find about Lido di Jesolo, or Italy as a whole. A lot of people will either love it and keep going back, or they will hate it there is never an in between its always one of the other.

The Resort :

The resort is always getting little updates, and modernised which is always nice to see from year to year.

Lido di Jesolo has many little snack bars, and restaurants so you will never not find a place for a quick bite or a meal.

There are many shops ranging from cheap to very expensive, and these can be gifts to clothes.

The beach is a favourite for everyone to visit as all the hotels are very close to it, and it’s a very very clean and safe beach.

Jesolo is on flat land, so this is also a perfect area for anyone who has poor mobility, old or in a wheelchair.

Top Things To Do :

Jolly Rodger :

If you have kids then this is for you.

You go on a large ship that looks like something from Pirates of the Caribbean, and it sails out to sea. Music plays and then the kids are given a drink of juice, then play with fake swords.

At one point the ship sails to a deep part of the sea, and another Jolly Rodger from further up the resort comes to its side. The kids are then given water balloons and they throw them at each ship.

Aqualandia :

If you like water parks then this going to be your favour thing to do when here.

This place has everything you would expect from a water park, tidal machines to very long slides at crazy angles. It also features the highest bungee tower in Europe.

The park has been designed very nice, with lots of palm trees and many different tropical plants.

Just a heads up, make sure you have sun cream on or stay in the shade. If its a very warm day, you will catch a lot of sun.

Sea Life :

This is a more recent attraction added within the past few years, at a shopping centre called Laguna Shopping.

I have still to try Jesolo’s Sea Life Centre but from what I have heard, it’s really good and interesting to visit.

More Info Here

Jesolo Lighthouse :

Not a special thing to do, but a nice walk to see and take photos. Every year I visit Jesolo, I leave the room early (before breakfast) and take a nice long walk down to the Lighthouse. Its very relaxing and a lovely walk as the sun is just coming up and the beach is at its quietest.

Tours :

One of the biggest attractions Jesolo has for me, is how close it is to a lot of nice places to visit.

Venice :

Venice for me is a magical place to visit, its like stepping back in time. Yes, its busy, but if you go at certain times of the day it won’t be as bad. One thing I keep hearing people say is “Venice ohh its smells,” every year I visit Venice and only maybe twice I have smelt it bad but the reason was the weather was very warm and they were cleaning a canal out. So don’t listen to what people say.

I will be doing a blog post on Venice soon keep watching out for that.

Verona :

You can visit Verona as part of a joint tour, the Verona Lake Garda excursion. I have done this three times now and enjoy every moment.

Most of you will know Verona for one reason, Romeo and Juliet as this is where their famous balcony is.

You get about two and a half hours here, the first part you follow the tour guide and the second you get to do what you like. Since I have been a few times, I just go off and enjoy the full time to myself.

Lake Garda :

As I have said above this is part of the joint excursion.

Well, Lake Garda has to be seen in person to appreciate the beauty of the location. On arrival you see the sea view and this is amazing, you can if you like go out on a boat for a little time with a guide and see it from there. I have done this once and it was nice, but it does take up time you could spend at the shops.

There is not really a lot to do here, but it is worth a visit. It’s a very relaxing place to visit, and one maybe at some point I would like to stay for a long weekend.

Overall :

As you can see from all the above text and photos, Jesolo offers a lot to do. You can go and relax or go and see sights or a little of both. The above is just a little of what Lido di Jesolo has on offer so check out the website link below.

If you do visit Italy try and see a few sights, and also try some of the local food and ice cream.

For more information on what you can find on Lido di Jesolo visit www.jesolo.it and select the language you want the page to be presented in.
