After my first visit here, which for me was not that good to be honest. I had heard from another blogger that the dumplings here are amazing….so I thought lets give here a second chance.

Again just like the last time we were shown to our seat, and told that we had to order at the counter.

Tonight I ordered one style of dumplings and my girlfriend ordered another so we could try two styles.

The Food…

Special Dumplings £6.00
Contains pork, King prawns & Chives

On arrival this looked OK, and I was very interested at how these were going to taste.

For me anyway, these were not that tasty even with the added sauce it still didn’t do much for me.

Vegetarian Dumplings £6.00
Contains celery, dried tofu & shitake mushrooms

This was the one that my girlfriend ordered so I tried a few.

Again very dissapointed this had less flavour than mine…

Overall

I don’t say this very often but for me this will be my last visit to Dumpling Monkey, both visits just didn’t do anything for me.

There are other similar places near Dumpling Monkey, similar costs that pack a much much better flavour.

Sorry guys!

I have walked past this place a few times and thought the food looked very nice, so today I took a visit.

On entering we were instantly greeted and asked if it was for take away or sit in, and then shown to a table.

The Food…

Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs £4.80

IMG_3774.jpg

On arrival this looked very nice, I could see they cut up the ribs rather than bring then whole (maybe to speed up the cooking time).

These were very nice, and had a nice flavour.

If you do order these just be careful as there are bones, just because they are smaller pieces doesn’t mean they are boneless bits.

Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style £6.50

This is one of my favourite dishes so I had to try it here and see how it was.

On arrival it looked nice, but this is where it stopped.

The sauce was very runny and had a slight vinegar taste to it, normally when its been like this its the cheaper way to make it so maybe thats whats happened tonight…or vinegar is used to thin down sauce to make it go further….

Overall

This place is a take away trying to be a sit in cafe/restaurant at the same time.

You order at the desk, get the cutlery yourself and all the food just comes at once even though its split in to starters and mains. Since it all came at once and I was at a table for two, the table was too busy and made it difficult to actually enjoy and eat.

By the time I finished my starter my Sweet and Sour chicken was a little cold, plus it wasn’t that good (i’ve had much better).

Personally I don’t know if I would go back, the starter was nice the main not so much….I will need to think on this one.
