Banana Leaf has been on my list for a long time now, and for some reason I haven’t visited it till now….not sure why maybe just depending on what I felt like to eat on the day.

On entering the decor and atmosphere is very nice, and a little fancy.

We were taken to our table and sat down, while I was getting comfy I had a look about. This was VERY nice inside, and everything felt like had to be perfect.

While we were waiting for our food to arrive, I noticed the manager? was teaching a girl how the tables should be set and everything had to be in a specific area and perfect. I really like this touch, as it shows that the restaurant cares even about the little things.

The Food…

I don’t know what this was called, but this was given to us while waiting and told it was to help refresh out palates.

IMG_7970.jpg

This was nice.

We just asked for when the items were ready to just bring them out, so it was a mix of starters and mains.

Mains

Roasted Duck Slices stuffed with Prawn and Chicken Meat £13.90
served in a plum sauce

IMG_7975.jpg

This looked very nice, though a little more salad than I would like (but you know am not a salad guy).

I tried a little first and BANG WOW!!!! this was soooo tasty I LOVED it!!! So it was time to dig in and enjoy my meal.

This was a very very good option for me, normally I would have avoided it as duck is hit and miss for me….but tonight this was really good and I would order this again.

Roti Canai (Indian Influenced Crispy Flatbread) £4.80
served with curry sauce

I have had Roti before, so I thought lets try it here and this was originally my starter but as I said I asked them to bring it all at once.

Again this was very nice, very light and the curry sauce was REALLY good.

Overall

My first visit to Banana Leaf was very good, I could tell they took a lot of care and attention to everything from the restaurant to the food.

I cant fault anything tonight, the service and food was very good. The atmosphere was very relaxing.

For me and this is a personal thing, maybe the cost of the dishes are just a little much for the portion size but apart from that its a great place to try.

Until today I had never really heard much about here, and today I was meeting Emma Eats and Weekends with Wendy for brunch.

Unfortunately Wendy couldn’t make it due to unforeseen circumstances, so it was just me and Emma.

IMG_4692

This place is a little off the main street that people would walk on, so it is so easy to miss which is a shame as it’s a really nice.

As you can see from the above photo its very nice inside, and has a really nice and relaxing atmosphere.

The Food…

homemade cheesy beano, spiced red pepper sauce, yoghurt & herbs £8.25

IMG_4686

I have not had a cheese beano in many many years, so when I saw this I had to have it.

This sounded like an interesting take on the beano, so when it arrived and looked as good as you can see in the photo I was hoping it would taste just as good.

This was very very very good, it brought back memories from childhood when I had a beano plus the peppers added that extra flavour.

I would highly recommend this.

Flourless Chocolate Cake, creme fraiche £4.50

IMG_4688

After the beano I was very full, but hey there is no harm in looking at the desert menu right? well yeah…as I ordered the chocolate cake….greedy me

I have a sweet tooth and when I saw this it sounded interesting, flourless? how different could this taste….

This was the best chocolate cake I have had, it was sweet, and very soft and very very moreish!!!! yes I could have easily had another but I didn’t want to be too much of a pig today….more so since it was brunch.

If you love chocolate cake take a trip to here and try it! you will not be disappointed.

I am very glad that Emma recommended here, as this is a little gem that is hidden.

As you would expect by the name “Duck Club” duck does show up a lot on the menu, but there are other dishes to if you are not a big fan.

I look forward to going back and trying more dishes and having more chocolate cake mmmm I am drooling already!

See you soon.

One year ago today I was a very cheap 1st date, I took my now girlfriend to a bloggers event at Temaki see the review here.

This was good as the food and drinks were all free, so was a win win situation for me plus it was a fun night.

One year later I couldn’t do the 1st anniversary of our 1st date again being a cheapo! so it was time to think where should I book? and the first place that came to mind was Lychee as its been one of my favourites for a long time.

I know as a food blogger I should try different dishes, but anytime I come here I always have the same main dish so don’t expect that to change as its just too good not to have.

The Food…

Starter

SPICY THAI CRACKERS WITH SWEET CHILLI DIP £3.50

IMG_5184

I am a prawn cracker lover, and I first tried these at some point last year and since then if the mood takes me I order these.

Yes the title says spicy but its only a very very small kick.

CRISPY DUCK ROLLS £4.70

IMG_5186

Duck for me is something I am starting to get a thing for, normally it would be chicken or pork.

I decided to give these a shot tonight and see what they were like,

WOW I loved this and so glad I tried this, the duck rolls were nice and then when you added some of the dip to them so so good the perfect bite.

This is something I will be having again.

CRISPY SHREDDED SWEET ‘N’ CHILLI CHICKEN £13.90

I always have this dish plus the rice when I come here, as a blogger I should really try something different…..but really this is too good not to have.

The title says chilli, but it’s only a small kick which for me is perfect as too spicy I cant handle.

Presentation, taste all perfect and its very very moreish!
