It had been a while since I last visited @dockyard It had been a while since I last visited @dockyardsocial, so when I found myself in the area, I knew I had to pop in, and I’m so glad I did!

The vibe was buzzing, but the real star of the show was my food choice for the day:

@smashed_gla. I went in craving a burger, and their menu made it impossible to choose just one, but eventually, I landed on the "Scotland The Brave" and it did not disappoint.

🍔 Scotland The Brave (£11.00): 2x patties, 2x cheese, Stornoway black pudding, caramelised onions, truffle mayo, and bun.

As soon as I unwrapped it, the smell alone had me hooked. The patties were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, but the addition of that savoury Stornoway black pudding paired with the subtle hint of truffle mayo? Absolute genius. It was easily one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time; every mouthful was a total treat.

I also grabbed a side of chips, which were perfectly salted and beautifully crisp. Honestly, this meal completely made my day! If you’re heading down to Dockyard Social soon, you need to check these guys out. Highly recommended!

Solid State IPA by @verdantbrewery I’ve been a ma Solid State IPA by @verdantbrewery

I’ve been a massive fan of Verdant’s beers for a while now (they rarely, if ever, miss), so the second I spotted Solid State on the shelves, you already know it was an instant buy. I had to try it.

Soooo Good!!!. It pours that classic, beautiful, hazy yellow and hits you with a massive wave of tropical fruit and citrus zest aroma the second you crack the can.

it’s got that signature soft, creamy mouthfeel Verdant does best. Think juicy mango and grapefruit upfront, balanced out perfectly by a clean bitterness on the finish. It’s incredibly well-crafted and dangerously drinkable.

Verdant continues their winning streak in my book. 4.5/5

Have you managed to track this one down yet? What’s your go-to Verdant brew? Drop it below! 👇

Back in beautiful Tobermory! 🌈 Two years after my Back in beautiful Tobermory! 🌈 Two years after my first visit, I finally made it back to the Isle of Mull’s most iconic colorful harbor town.

Here is a quick breakdown of my stay:

🛏️ The Room: I opted for a family room just to secure that incredible harbor view, and waking up to it was absolute magic! The decor has a lovely, traditional vibe and came with fresh towels and comfy robes. The only downside was the sofa bed, which definitely needed a bit of TLC.

🚿 The Bathroom: A pleasant, ultra-modern, and spotless surprise! A small heads-up for my fellow tall travelers though, being 6'1" with an angled ceiling meant some tactical maneuvering to get in and out of the shower. But once inside? The water warmed up instantly and the pressure was excellent!

🍳 Breakfast: Downstairs is a great buffet setup. Pro tip: Book a time slot early so you can snag a window seat with a view! They have a great selection of hot items (including vegan options), pastries, and cereals. It definitely hit the spot before my long drive home.

🍷 The Vibe: It was so wonderful to be back exploring the local shops and soaking up the atmosphere. I even made sure to pop into the legendary Mishnish Bar for a wee drink before heading out.

Despite a couple of minor room quirks, the view and the hospitality completely won me over!

On my way home from the Isle of Mull, I found out On my way home from the Isle of Mull, I found out my booked ferry was delayed. Worried it might get cancelled altogether, I decided to pivot and plan an alternative route.

I am so glad I did, because otherwise, I never would have stumbled upon this absolute hidden gem: The Coal Shed Cafe (@the_coal_shed_cafe)

When I walked in, a few things on the wall menu caught my eye, but once I reached the counter and spotted the Ardtornish Venison & Italian Herb Sausage Rolls (£4.50), I knew exactly what I was getting. Honestly? I now wish I’d bought two, but at the time, I was only looking for a light lunch!

The second I sat down, the incredible aroma hit me. From the very first bite, the flavour was superb. It easily beats any sausage roll I’ve ever had (and trust me, I’ve tried a lot!). It was perfectly cooked, letting you taste every individual element. The combination of the rich venison and the Italian herbs was just outstanding!!!!

If you’re ever in the area, or even if you just fancy a wee drive out, I cannot recommend this place enough!

The “Scotland the Brave” burger is a game changer: 2x patties, double cheese, and Stornoway black pudding with truffle mayo? Absolute perfection. 🤤

Paired with crispy salted chips and a refreshing Zero Zombi mocktail. This was easily one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. 10/10 recommend.

First night on the Isle of Mull done right! For First night on the Isle of Mull done right!

For my first dinner on the island, I wanted somewhere incredible that was also close enough to catch the sunset at Calgary Beach. After narrowing it down to a few local hotspots, I decided on @ambirlinn and it was the perfect choice.

I ordered the Inverlussa Mussels (£19.50), steamed in a Chardonnay, garlic, and cream base.

When the dish arrived, the portion was massive and the aroma was incredible. You could instantly tell the mussels were fresh. Even though they were on the smaller side, they were unbelievably tender, and the sauce was seasoned to absolute perfection. The portion was so generous that I left feeling completely satisfied.

If you’re a seafood lover exploring the area, this is a total must-try!

Romanian Memories 🇷🇴 I was recently near @transyl Romanian Memories 🇷🇴

I was recently near @transylvaniashop and just had to pop in. While browsing, I had one mission: see if they sold Mici (those incredible, traditional Romanian grilled minced meat rolls made from pork, beef, and lamb).

Having visited Romania many times, I still vividly remember trying Mici for the first time in Craiova and Bucharest and absolutely falling in love with them. And guess what? Yes, they had them! Woohoo! 🙌

Now, the absolute best way to cook these is on a BBQ, but I used my oven this time and they still turned out so juicy and nice. To do it the traditional way, you have to serve them with:
💛 Yellow mustard
🥖 Crusty white bread
🍺 A nice, ice-cold beer

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on Mici for a long time, and I'm so glad I finally did today. It brought back a flood of amazing Romanian memories.

To top off the ultimate nostalgic meal, I finished it with a drink of Țuică, that potent, traditional Romanian plum spirit (which I also grabbed from @transylvaniashop!). One sip and I was instantly transported back to my trips.

If you haven't tried Mici or Țuică yet and this sounds right up your street, head over to @transylvaniashop and grab some!

👇 Let me know in the comments if you've ever tried Romanian food!

The wait is officially over! After missing out las The wait is officially over! After missing out last time, I finally made it back to the Isle of Mull and stepped inside the stunning glass interior of The Glass Barn @isle_of_mull_cheese.

I ordered the Isle of Mull Cheese Toastie (£9.50), which comes oozing with their famous tangy Farmhouse cheese, a side of homemade chutney, and a dressed salad. Naturally, I opted to add the Island Pork Ham (+£2.00) to make it meaty—and let me tell you, it was completely worth it.

When the food arrived, it looked incredible and the portion was absolutely huge. From the very first bite, I was so impressed. The toastie was lovely and soft in the centre with just the right amount of crispness on the outside. The cheese had a fantastic, robust flavour and the pork was gorgeous. The entire dish was delicious from start to finish!
