UNLTD Alcohol Free Premium Craft Beer : Review

Please check out my previous post on UNLTD, and continue to see what my thoughts are now for them.

The Delivery

The guys sent me their mixed case, which includes their Lager and new IPA beer.

I have had the lager from these guys previously and really liked it, so much so I told all my friends about it and to get some.

When they said they were sending me a mixed case, which included their new IPA I couldn’t wait to try this. I have been meaning to order some to try, but it kept popping out my head…..I should really have a notebook to remind me.

The beer, The Taste

Style : Lager
About : This thirst quenching lager has light citrus aromas, a hint of honey and caramel, rounded off with a subtly bitter finish. 0.5% abv
Notes : Malty, hints of honey
ABV% : 0.5%⠀
IBU: 0⠀

Originally when I tried this I really liked it, but there was a dryness in my mouth after drinking it but the flavour was very good.

I chilled this one, cracked it open and poured myself a cold one.

Oh this was different but in a good way, the flavour was just as I remember but nicer and no dryness not even a little ohhhhh

I asked the guys if they have made changes to it since I last tried, and they said yes its an improved recipe wooohooo

This was perfect, so good I had two the first night I got these.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Style : IPA
About : This full flavoured IPA has aromas of citrus and tropical fruits, deep and complex malt flavours and a perfectly balanced bitter backbone – which basically means it’s bloody delicious.
ABV% : 0.5%⠀
IBU: 0⠀

This one the one I was really looking forward to trying, as it was their new beer.

I popped this in the cooler to chill, and then with dinner I cracked it open.

This was very nice and light, and I could taste a subtle citrus flavour which was very mmm

Just like the lager I had to have two of these as it was that good.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Overall :

Firstly a big thanks to the guys at The Alcohol Free Brewing Co. for sending me some bottles of UNLTD.

Both these beers are my number 1 non alcoholic beers, and I highly highly recommend you try them I promise you that you won’t be disappointed and you will order more.

Hidden Lane Brewery and Wood Winters Wines Pop-up (West End, Glasgow) : Review

The Visit :

I was invited to pop along to the Hidden Lane for that Saturdays pop-up shop event with The Hidden Lane Brewery and Wood Winters Wines and Whiskeys.

When I used to live in the West End I have popped down to the Hidden Lane a few times, for either Afternoon Tea or the little shops. I then kept seeing signs for the brewery and I guess it was so well hidden I couldn’t see where it was.

Today when I visited I am glad to say I found it.

For me, Wood Winters is a new name, but I always like to learn about new places shops etc as it’s always fun to find something new.

Hidden Lane Brewery

Let’s start with the Hidden Lane Brewery.

If you have been following me on my Instagram, or seen a few of my 2019 now posts (thanks to lockdown) I enjoy a nice beer and have taken a few groups for a Brewery tour in Glasgow so I was very excited to see these guys today.

I got chatting to the guy behind the brewery and he definitely knows his stuff, plus he told me a few of the things that he wants to do once lock down ends….and one of them I will 100% be going to do.

I did get gifted some beers today (the top 6), but I also purchased some (the bottom 6) as I always like when I am invited to events to purchase something as every little helps.

The beers I got :

Tropical Ale 4.4% abv

This was the third beer I tried.

So the name “Tropical” I started to think what could this taste like? would it be sweet? well I popped it open to find out.

Firstly the smell was lovely, again it had a nice sweet fresh aroma

The taste was again fresh, and yes tropical a subtle hint of pineapple which was really nice.

This is definitely a perfect summer drink.

My Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Raspberry Saison 4.5% abv

I actually started with this one, as it sounded very interesting and also sweet which is good for me as I have a sweet tooth.

I chilled it for a few hours, then popped it open.

This looked interesting and smelled really nice, so only one thing left to do is taste.

ohhh yes this was nice, fresh and yum! this hit the right spot for me!

This is a great summer beer, and for me all year round beer as its got sweetness, flavour and very refreshing.

My rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Al’s Session Lager 4.2% ABV

Most beer drinkers like a good lager, as they are an easy drink, refreshing and perfect on a warm day.

This beer is very light, nice first taste and nice after taste and refreshing.

I really liked this one, but the Nitro and Raspberry ones are still my favourites.

My Rating :

Rating: 4 out of 5.

80 Nitro Shilling 4.5% abv

The second beer I tried was this one.

Wait a minute! this was just as good as the first one I tried!!!

It had a great flavour, not too light or heavy and had a really nice aftertaste.

I am now really looking forward to trying the other beers.

Another solid 5

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Lager Lager 4.5% abv

So by the name I am guessing its a Lager…

The other lager was nice, light and refreshing so lets see how this one is…

For me this had a nicer flavour than the other lager, and again very light and easy to drink.

The aftertaste again was pleasant and tasted really nice chilled.

My Rating :

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Wood Winters Wines & Whiskey

I enjoy my beers, rums but I have never really got into wines and its something I would really like to get into.

Today I visited them at their pop-up and had a look at their wine list, they all looked good and sounded good but I didn’t know what to get…..this is where I need to learn more about wines.

I opted to purchase the following :

Durello Spumante Brut Palazzi (Italian) £8.00

I poured this out, sat down and relaxed with a glass with Netflix.

Ohh I really like this one, it reminds me of a prosecco but deeper if you get me. It has a lovely flavour and is very light and easy to drink.

Tonight I drank about half the bottle, as I wanted to leave some for another night.

I can see myself buying this again, it hit all the right spots for me.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Overall :

Firstly a big thank you to The Hidden Lane for the goodie bag.

I really liked todays event as I found somewhere new, and got to try products from two new places…well new for me.

Both the wine and the beers were really good, as you have seen from the review above.

Please do check them both out, and follow them on their social media accounts to get updates.

Cheers.

Beer from The Beer Town (Glasgow) : Review

GIFTED

The guys over at The Beer Town contacted me to see if I wanted to try out their delivery service and some beers.

They recently launched a craft beer and craft cider home delivery service, and I accepted and checked it out.

About The Beer Town

Dunns Food and Drinks are a family run business based in Glasgow. Pre-covid, they supplied food and drink to many of Scotland’s restaurants, bars and hotels. However, due to the current situation, they have opened up their food and drink portfolio to the public via a home delivery, and click and collect service.

They have recently set up a retail shop online.

They decided it was probably too much for beer lovers to go through our 6,500 products online through the Dunns site. Therefore, they launched a brand new home delivery specialist craft beer and cider site –

The Beer Town  https://www.thebeertown.co.uk/

The Delivery

What a massive delivery from them, they really spoiled me.

I have only tried two of the ones here, so it was going to be fun trying the other ones and learning a little about them and how they taste.

  • 4 x Hop House Cans
  • 4 x Brewgooder Cans
  • 4 x Williams Joker Cans
  • 4 x Offshore Pilsner Cans
  • 4 x Blue Moon Cans
  • 4 x West St Mungos

Hop House

I decided to start with this one, no particular reason. This was my first time trying this beer, so I would looking forward to how it tasted.

This was a very nice lagger it was 4.1% ABV and no IBU.

This was very easy lager to drink, and one that I would easily have again.

Williams Joker IPA

This was my second choice, and I think I have had this one before but it would have been ages ago.

It has an ABV of 5% and IBU of 30.

This was a really nice beer to drink, I sat sipping this while watching Netflix and really enjoyed it.

It has a good overall malt/hop balance and very easy to drink.⠀

Offshore Pilsner

I have never heard of this one before, or tried any beers from Sharps brewery so I was looking forward to trying something new.

It has a 4.8% ABV and has no IBU which sounded perfect to me.

wow this was a really nice beer, I really enjoyed this. It was very light, easy to drink and had a really nice taste….this is definitely one I would have again.

WEST St mungo’s

I have had this beer before, I used to do before lockdown local Glasgow brewery tasting tours and WEST was one of the stops on the tour.

This is a really nice beer, just like others very easy to drink and a nice taste.

Brewgooder Clean Water

A very light tasting beer, but surprisingly really good and easy to drink.⠀

Brewed by BrewDog at zero-margin with 100% of the profits are used to fund clean water projects in the developing world, Clean Water Lager allows you to drink beer and give water.

Bluemoon belgian white

I couldnt wait to try this one as it was a wheat ale and I had heard a few good things about this beer in the past.

This was such a nice tasting beer for me, and even my dad loved this so much he had two of my cans.

This is another one I would have again.

Overall :

Note : Just because this was gifted, that has not influenced my thoughts in any way. The above is a 100% honest review of the delivery, service and beers.

Firstly a big thanks to The Beer Town for sending me these amazing beers.

Their service was perfect, the communication was very good and the guys who emailed me were very pleasant and nice to deal with. The delivery was great and so was the beers.
