I had been here many years ago, I think just before it closed for some sandwiches and coffee. I heard it hard recently opened so I thought I would pop in, have a small something and see how the renovation had changed it.

On entering it has changed a lot!!! what used to be where you would buy bits and bobs, and some jewellery its now all for you to sit in and have something to eat or drink.

Next door is now where you can purchas items.

Todays Order…

Scone with jam and clotted cream £4.25
IMG_2137.jpg

The wait for this was a little longer than expected, but it did arrive warm so I am guessing it was maybe freshly made.

This was good, what can you say a scone with clotted cream and jam is just mmmm

Viennese Coffee £4.00
2 shots of espresso and whipped cream

On arrival, I took the photo right away. This did not look like what it should be, it looked like it should be something else (but it was the correct order)

A Viennese Coffee should not look like this, this just visually looked like a double espresso and that was it.

The coffee was nice but it was NOT what it says it was.

This is how it should be!

Overall

Overall the refurb for here was very nice, at the time of my visit it was only open maybe around the two weeks area.

Today’s visit was ok, I loved the scone but the coffee a massive disappointment!

At some point, I will go back and try the afternoon tea.

The last time I was here was probably over 6 years ago, but I remember it having good food and the best coffee I have ever had!!!

Today I decided to take a visit to see if its how I remembered, plus to have that amazing coffee again.

Before you continue please note that I forgot to take a photo of the coffee, it was the Malaysian Style Coffee (Hot) but OMG you HAVE!!!! to try this its a 10/10.

The Food…

Roti Canai £2.50

On arrival I thought hmm 2 would have been good, but this was just for lunch and I had another course coming.

To be honest one was perfect, and it was packed with flavour with and without the curry sauce.

Main Course

Deep Fried Chicken Wings £4.90
with a spicy coating

IMG_2037.jpg

So I am not great with anything spicy, but I thought ok lets try it.

This was not spicy one bit, the sauce had more kick than the chicken. It was just ok, yeah it was nice but just OK

Not sure if I would order this again.

Moving Beans Coffee : Review

IMG_2332.jpg

www.movingbeans.com

I am a coffee lover, I never take Tea when I go out or at home.

I have a Nespresso machine, with many different types of coffee which I use on a daily basis.

In the past I have tried several other brands of coffee pods, but to be honest the taste was not good or the pod never really popped right and only a drip or two (sometimes nothing) came out….so it was a waste of money.

I recently decided to try Moving Beans, which are compatible with my Nespresso machine. I looked these guys up to see what reviews they got, and to find out more information on the company.

The company started off as a small family business and grew from then, their aim was to reduce waste and the product was enjoyed and the big part the packaging was good for the environment.

I liked this idea, so I gave them a shot.

The Packaging :

IMG_2329.jpg

As you can see the boxes are coloured different, so you can tell the difference between the coffee. The designs for me were very nice, and on the back of each package it told you a little about the type of bean used e.g.

Kenyan : A milder roast with a deliciously smooth crema, zero bitterness and warm chocolate aromas

The Pods :

They look very similar to Nespresso pods, and the best part they are biodegradable so environmentally friendly.

I was a little hesitant looking at these, as I hoped when I put them in my machine they would pop and I would get a good amount of coffee.

IMG_2330.jpg

The cost :

For a pack of 10 its normally £3.50, similar to other pods which was good.

This for me was a good price, and if I liked what I tasted I will be ordering more.

Time To Taste…..

I decided to try the Kenyan one first, and popped the pod in and clicked start.

I heard a nice pop followed by a nice amount of coffee pouring out in to my cup….this was a good start.

The coffee looked good, and had a nice head….next I smelled it and yeah very good. It had a nice strong smell, and this was something the other brands I tried didn’t have.

Now I tasted it…..very good!!!!

I was very impressed, the flavours were nice to start with and the after taste was just as nice.

I tried the other 2 types, and just like this one very nice and the flavours were perfect.

Overall :

I am very impressed with this product, all the pods burst perfectly and allowed the coffee to flow nicely in to the cup. The taste from all 3 beans, was just as nice as the Nespresso ones.

My only complaint would, if I was to take the pods out the box and put them in a glass jar for display. I wouldnt be able to tell the difference between the pods, as the colours are all the same. They should maybe consider changing the colour of the top of the pod, to match the boxes e.g Kenyan would have red.

If you have had a bad experience with other available Nespresso alternatives, then please do check these guys out as I was very impressed and will be ordering again from these guys.
