Divans Darbar (Maryhill, Glasgow) 2022 : Review

The Visit

The guys at Divan Darbar asked me to come back and try their new Indo_Chinese Thali and they also mentioned that on Tuesdays they are now doing a £2 curry deal…that’s amazing!!!

I accepted and we set a date for my visit.

I had been here before, and I was going o be returning soon as I have a list of places in 2022 I wanted to go back to.

The Food

Indo-Chinese Thali £n/a tonight (normally £5.99)

Set Menu :

  • Veg Spring Rolls
  • Chilli Chicken
  • Egg Fried Noodles
  • Chinese Chicken Curry / Veg Curry
  • Prawn Crackers

I think this is a great idea, as I am sure it will stop a few family arguments when one member fancies Indian and the other Chinese….so now that can be sorted without any issues.

On arrival wow this was actually a lot bigger than I thought, it’s perfect for two people to share I would say or one very hungry person.

For me the winner here was the chilli chicken, it had a great flavour and a tiny kick.

The chicken for the curry and chilli chicken was mega tender! it was soo good.

This is a solid 5/5 one due to the flavours, two due to the quantity and three due to the cost!

You have to check this out!!!!

Pepper Dry Fry (Chicken) £4.95
Pepper, the king of spices, is blended with ginger, garlic and aromatic Indian spices finished with a tempting coconut oil, mustard and curry leaves.

This was actually the starter, I asked the guys here what they would like promoted and this was one of the suggestions along with the Indo-Chinese Thali.

On arrival, I was hit with such an amazing smell, and visually this looked very very nice.

I couldn’t wait to dig in.

I noticed from the menu it had a few chilli icons next to the title, so I thought ok be prepared for something spicy…I took a bite…

Oh ok, this had a kick but a very subtle one, but the flavour…wow this was super tasty! The chicken was nice and tender and each bite packed a punch of great flavour.

I could have easily had this again! and I think on my return visit I will be ordering this.

Nihari Nalli (with bone) £9.99
Nihari Nalli is a stew from Indian subcontinent. Slow-cooked shank of lamb in a tomato based gravy.

I asked the guys here what else they would like to promote, and they recommended I try this dish.

On arrival this looked very interesting, and smelled very nice….so after a few photos, I tried it.

I took the meat off the bone and tasted it, just like everything else it was very tender and had a lovely flavour. The gravy was very very nice, so nice I used the naan (see next post) to clean the plate.

Kerala Paratha £1.95

The name caught my eye as I know have a few friends from Kerala and I am sure I will be making more soon….so I had to order this.

This is a flaky doughy flatbread, the outside is crisp and flaky and the inside is soft and warm.

I loved this as the texture was great, and the flavour was very nice. It was nice on its own and also when dipping into a gravy.

I will have this again on my return.

Garlic Naan

The guys brought out a garlic naan and WOW this was HUGE!!!!!

The naan was nice and fluffy and the garlic flavour just added to an already nice taste.

This was great and as I said HUGE! perfect to share with someone.
