Bantawala by Masala Twist (West End, Glasgow) 2021 : Review

Visit : 31/07/2021 (Invited)

The Visit

The guys at Bantawala asked me if I would like to come and trysome of their food, so I accepted and set a date.

I have passed here many times, mostly when it was known as Masala Twist and its been on my hit list for a while…then covid hit.

I was excited to go and check the place out, and see what its like inside.

Todays visit inside was very busy, and I am not someone who likes to take photos and include the people inside so these are the snaps I took.

How funky is the inside, it had a lovely warm atmosphere and the art work on the walls was very cool.

The Food

I opted to select from the Pre-Theatre menu which is priced at £13.99

For my starter : Vegetable Pakora

As you may have seen in my previous posts, vegetable pakora has become a must for me when I go to an Indian restaurant as its very nice.

Presentation wise this looked very nice, and I noticed the sauce wasn’t a vibrant pink colour so this was going to be interesting to try.

I started trying the pakora on its own, and I have to say it was very nice. The batter and texture was perfect, highly recommend if you come here.

I now dipped the pakora in the sauce, and ohhh this was very nice. It was sweet but not overpowering and added a lovely flavour to an already nice pakora.

I can’t wait to have this again.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

My Main : Chicken Korma and Saffron Rice

I always have to see how each restaurant does their Korma dish, some I’ve found to be bland, others spicy and some really nice…so how was it here?

Visually it looked good, and it smelled really good so it was time to taste.

This tasted very nice, the chicken was perfectly cooked and the sauce was nice and creamy…everything worked very well together.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

My Drink : Kokam Banta

This was very new to me and I have never heard of this before, the owner brought it over to me and told me what it was and how they make it.

This is very cool as they brought over the machine that makes this from India and they make it all in house…and just look how cool that bottle is.

The flavour of this was berry and it was very refreshing, I am definitely going to order this again on my next visit.

If you havent had one before do check it out.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Ruby Murrays Takeaway (Tollcross, Glasgow) : Review

The guys over at Ruby Murrys contacted me and offered me a free dinner, so recently I accepted.

This is what I ordered and thought 🙂

The Food

8pc Mixed Pakora

Normally I dont say this about Pakora boxes but this was nicely presented, I like the Ruby Murry paper it was on as normally its just the pakora and nothing else.

It was mixed pakora so that included Mushroom, Chicken and Vegetable and all were 100% really tasty and had a nice flavour….this was very moreish.

Chicken Korma with Rice

I have ordered from Ruby Murry’s before but never went for the Korma, which is strange as Korma is one of my fav currys so tonight I did got it.

I started with the rice which was cooked perfectly, and had a really nice flavour…now to the Korma.

The Korma had a lovely sweet coconut flavour, which is exactly how I like my Korma’s and together with the rice were very very nice.
