INVITED
30-01-2022

The Visit

On 30th January I was invited to go to Chaiiwalal Glasgow for a wee bloggers event, I had been before and enjoyed the food so I accepted and added the date to my calendar.

Inside

As you may have seen from my previous blogs and Instagram posts, the inside is lovely!!! the room we were sitting in is the one pictured which can be hired for any business lunches etc.

The Food

As I said I have been here a few times already and tried a lot of items from their menu. So today I thought I would try something different.

Chicken Tikka in Naan (normally £3.95)
another street food classic, grilled boneless chicken wrapped in stone-baked naan with onions, tomatoes and yoghurt-mint chutney

I spotted this on the menu today and I knew I had to get it, I have missed this before and it sounded very nice.

On arrival just like my previous visits, the items are all wrapped up in what looks like an old Indian newspaper which I think is very cool.

Opening it this looked very nice and it was time to take a bite.

I had to take a big bite as the chicken tikka chunks were big, but once I did the flavours hit me instantly. This was very nice I could taste everything, and it all worked very well together.

The sauce used was really good and I look forward to having this again.

My Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Chilli & Lemon Chips (normally £2.90 add £0.50p for cheese)
freshly prepared fries tossed in Chaiiwala spicy chilli and lemon chutney

This was another new one I spotted and had to try, when ordering the waitress asked if I wanted cheese with it…s I asked what she would recommend and she said yes with cheese so that’s what I did.

On arrival, this looked very nice and smelled nice too. I could smell the lemon from it which was nice.

Ohh these were nice, and they had a lovely flavour to them and a good after kick to them.

For me after eating half the kick was getting too much, but I persisted as it was very nice.

My Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Chilli Paneer (normally £4.50)
lightly deep-fried cottage cheese chunks smothered in spicy onion and pepper sauce, garnished with spring onions.

My friend ordered this and I got to taste this, as this was my second option so it worked out perfectly.

I tried a few pieces and liked the taste, I think if I was to try and eat the whole dish I would have struggled as I am not good with spicy dishes or even a little spicy.

I am glad I got to try them and if you like paneer you should give this a try.

My Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Caramel Chaii

Recently at my visits, I have had the mint chaii but today I thought let’s try something different, so I opted for the caramel Chaii.

Just like all the chaii’s I have tasted here this was very nice and very moreish.

If you want to taste really good tea, you need to come here to check out their Chaii menu!!

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Chaiiwala (Glasgow Springfield Quay) 2021 : Review

The Visit

As you may have seen I was recently invited to Chaiiwala Glasgow to come and try some of their food, and I had a very good experience.

I always like to visit again t see if this new visit is up to the same standard as when I got invited…was it? read on.

The Food

At my previous visit I had spotted a few dishes I would like to try on my return visit, so that’s exactly what I ordered.

Butter chicken Roll (Roti) £2.60
succulent shredded masala butter chicken in a classic roti

I wanted to try this last time, but the Kebab Roti was recommended.

On arrival this smelled very nice, and I couldn’t wait to dig in as I was very hungry.

Ohh this was good! the chicken was tender and the flavour of the butter chicken was so good.

I enjoyed every single bite.

Samosa Cone £3.60
five of our fresh best crispy vegetable samosas served with Chaiiwala chutney dip

Another dish I wanted to try last time was this, so tonight I did and I am very glad I did.

These were light, crispy and packed with flavour and very moreish.

I even dipped it in the additional chutney dip and it just added to the already lovely flavour.

Mint Chocolate Chaii (Large) £3.05

I saw this advertised on Chaiiwala’s instagram and had to try it tonight.

This was so so tasty! the mint chocolate chip flavour was perfect, not too strong or too sweet.

This was so good I had two tonight and will get this again on my next visit.

Thought this is a limited edition just for winter so check it out before its too late.

Mint Chocolate Chip Cake

Along with my mint chocolate chip chai I ordered this as it would have been rude not to.

This is exactly as you would expect, it was sweet, minty, chocolatey goodness! and I loved every bite.

Chaiiwala (Glasgow Springfield Quay) 2021 : Review

The Visit

I was recently at Chaiiwalala Glasgow befre heading to see a film and really enjoyed my visit. I wanted to go back for another visit, to try some of the street food so I made plans with friends.

I then got a wee ping in my inbox from the guys there asking if I would like to come back to try some street food, so I accepted and added it to my calendar.

Inside

Firstly lets start with how stunning Chaiiwala looks inside!

The main section of Chaiiwala is for you to sit and snack, and they also have a section at the back (photos with green seats) where you can hire for events, business meetings etc so if you fancy hiring this lovely section out give them a call.

I have to admit its one of the nicest locations I have visited for a while.

The Food

I am a big fan of Indian food as you may have seen from my posts and blogs, so I was very excited to try some items tonight.

Kebab Roll
chicken sheekh with mint yoghurt sauce topped with fresh onions, wrapped in a paratha

On arrival this was wrapped up nicely in what looked like a old Indian newspaper, I really liked this as it felt like old school street food where you got your chips etc in newspaper.

It was now time to try it…

Oh this was mega tasty!!!!

The mint yoghurt with the rest of the flavours was very addictive! I could have easily had two of these .

Highly recommended if you visit here.

Mogo Chips
cassava fingers tossed in chilli powder served with a smokey gazebo sauce dip

I have never heard of Mogo Chips till tonight, and I was told what it was…a kind of a potato…kind of…

I thought I need to try this and see what its like.

On arrival they looked like normal chips, until I took a bite.

The texture is slightly thicker than a potato but such a nice flavour!

Karak Chaii
well brewed strong tea

I have this on my first visit here, and had to order it again as its just too good not to have.

Let me start by saying how cute is the cup? a lovely Scottish theme…nice touch 🙂

This is a lovely tea, its full of flavour, creamy and just sweet enough….its basically a hug in a cup.

Gulab Jamun

If you have been following my posts for a while now, you know I love gulab jamun and could easily have loads and loads.

I had to end my night with this, and it was soo good.

The gulab jamun was warm, moist and extremely moreish and so good with all the syrup.

If you have never tried gulab jamun before then take a visit here and try it, you will love it.
