I have been here a few times, but never done a review.

Today I decided I needed a burger fix and thought lets try here, and do a little review while I am at it.

Inside Princess Square for me is always very nice and relaxing, the atmosphere is great even just for a little walk about.

Time for the burger…

The Food…

Main Course

The Smoakhouse Burger £12.95
American cheese, smokes bacon and BBQ sauce

On arrival this looked very good and my mouth instantly started to water.

This was a very juicy and flavoursome burger, everything about it was very good. The BBQ sauce worked very well with the beef, and I enjoyed every mouthful.

I would happily have this again.

Red Rudolph Cocktail £6.50
Absolut Vodka, Strawberry Liquer, Cranberry and Lime

IMG_4802.jpg

This is a special Christmas cocktail, so I am not sure if they will have something similar on the menu in the New Year (I hope they do).

This was a really good cocktail, I could have easily had many more but I was being a good boy today.

Overall

I am glad I visited NY American Grill again, as the atmosphere and the food was very good today. I wouldn’t say it was the best burger in Glasgow, but its at least in my top 4 places.

See you soon guys.

Steak Cattle & Roll (Glasgow) : Review

321 Sauchiehall Street

I had seen that Steak Cattle & Roll were opening, and followed them on all social platforms as I wanted to see what food they had to offer. When I started seeing all the posts of food milkshakes etc I knew I needed to visit.

After a while I still hadn’t visited, but I had a few chats with them on Twitter and promised I would visit…..I like to keep my promises so today I visited.

Prior to this visit I had a look at the menu, and liked a few things but Steak Cattle & Roll suggested for my first visit to start with a burger….so I did.

The Food :

Part of me today would have liked to have tried the big challenge burger, but I have been trying to loose weight and tone up since January and that would put me right back to where I started.

Looking at the menu there were many things I would like to try, but today I decided I would try 2 dishes and a milkshake.

Biscoffi Milkshake £5.00
Vanilla ice cream, cookie spread, banana chips

I love Biscoffi biscuits, so when I saw this I HAD to try this and see how it compared.

OH MY GOD!!!! this was amazing, if I didn’t have the other dishes coming I could have had at least 4 of these.

Cheesy Chips £4.00

I asked the waiter how cheesy these were and he replied very cheesy, so I had to give them a shot.

On arrival my first thought “thick chips” I do like them, but skinny chips all the way for me.

I tried a chip and the cheese sauce was the same sauce used on Macaroni Cheese, this is an ok cheese to use on chips but there are better cheese sauces.

For me this was ok, would I have it again probably not I would try something else.

Nacho Burger £10.00

This was the burger that stood out for me, as the nachos and description sounded good.

On arrival I was thinking “this is a big burger”

Normally I like to use both hands and bite into my burgers, but this one was to big for my mouth so I had to resort to a knife and fork.

This was a very nice and very tasty burger, but wow it was filling for me.

Overall :

Overall my first visit was a very filling visit, and I enjoyed what I ordered even if I didnt manage to finish the chips.

Maybe one day I will attempt a food challenge here.

I would like to go back and try the massive hot dog, or something else and a few more milkshakes so keep watching my posts.

Mango Tropical Bar (Glasgow) : Review

IMG_7987

373 Sauchiehall Street
Glasgow

V: 20th May 2017      T:  07908 251 200      W:  www.mangolatino.co.uk

Child Friendly: No as a bar      Accepts: Cash & Card

I have passed Mango a few times, when walking to the West End and I recently saw a voucher deal for here (two burgers and a cocktail for £12) which I had to get as it was a very good deal.

On entering we were greeted and shown to our table, and had a look about and at the menu.

For me this place had a really good atmosphere about it, you had Latin American music playing in the background, everyone was having a nice time, you had a TV that was showing football and WWE.

One part that was very cool was at every both, there was a plug socket on the wall. This had normal plug points and a USB point which was a nice touch.

The Food :

Beef Burrito £n/a as had voucher (normally £8.90)
Wheat flour tortilla wrapped with meat, refried beans, lettuce, guacamole, cheese and sour cream.

IMG_7994.jpg

I have had a few Burritos in the last few months, so I thought I would try one from here. On arrived it looked very nice, and it smelled really good.

At first bite I was a little puzzled as I was expecting it to have rice inside, but I am guessing not all Burritos need to have this.

Overall this was just OK for me, there were a few very chewy bits of beef but the majority were all nice and tender and the flavour was nice. The dips really did add to the flavour, my favourite was the sour cream I felt this worked very well with this.

Cocktail :

Mango Mojito £n/a as had voucher

The waitress who was very helpful tonight told me about the 3 cocktails I could choose from, so I told her I had a sweet tooth and to surprise me and she brought this one.

So I was with my friend tonight and there were two items on the dessert list that caught our eye, so we decided to order both and try half of each.

Desserts :

Churros con Chocolate £4.50
Very Latin American sweet snack to dip in to hot chocolate

IMG_8001.jpg

I wanted something sweet tonight, and this is a very sweet dessert.

I have had this before in many restaurants and loved it, and tonight I enjoyed it and with the dip it made it that extra sweet that I needed.

Torta de Queijo con Mango £4.50
Fresh Home Baked Mango cheesecake

This was very nicely presented, and I couldn’t wait to dig in.

It was a very nice cheesecake, with a very nice Mango sauce.

Overall :

Overall I really enjoyed my first visit here, food wise for me it was nice but atmosphere and cocktails that’s where it won for me.

I would like to go back and try another dish, and more of the cocktails.

As I said at the start of this post, I really felt relaxed and really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The music was at a perfect level, and the service, decor etc were all very good.
