I was very kindly asked by One Cove Road if I would like to visit them and have a brunch. When I saw it was in Gourock, I had to research what the best way to get there was before I could accept. Please remember my review is 100% honest, and not influenced in any way just because it was free.

After a little Googling, I found I could get the train from Glasgow Central to Gourock but get off at the second last stop (Fort Matilda) and from there it was only a 10 min walk which was perfect so I accepted the invite.

The walk from the train station to One Cove Road, was very nice as you have an amazing view of the sea and the surroundings.

Inside was nicely decorated, with a black and white theme. Even the staff’s uniforms were black and white, which was a very nice touch and looked very smart.

The Food…

I was very hungry so I thought let’s get the full breakfast……

First impressions were this was a good portion, and smelled really good….now it was time to taste.

Everything was perfectly cooked, and mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm the sausage was really!!!! good. It had the thickness of a burger but the flavour was mmmm this was the best sausage I have had in a long time.

Overall this was very filling, and I enjoyed every mouthful and as you guess LOVED the sausage. I would visit again just to have the sausage 🙂

Firstly I would like to thank One Cove Road for the invite, I had a lovely visit and a lovely day in Gourock.

The staff were all very friendly, and very helpful with my visit today.

I would recommend One Cove Road to anyone that takes a visit to Gourock, you can either sit in or take away. If you take away you can enjoy a lovely walk, with a lovely view.

Check it out you won’t be disappointed, and try the sausage!!!!

See you again 🙂

I have had La Lanterna on my list for a while now, as I wanted to try it when it opened but always never managed to get around to visiting….till now.

On entering we were shown to a table and made to feel very welcome!

The restaurant has a very modern Italian feel, and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful and welcoming.

Inside is not the biggest of restaurants, so if you want to visit maybe advanced booking is best so your not disappointed.

The Food…

Starter

Pate £6.95
Homemade smooth chicken liver pate served with sweet red onions & artisan bread

On arrival, I instantly thought this is a good portion size, and couldn’t wait to start.

This was so good!!! very smooth and mega tasty!!! I loved that this also came with crackers as normally when it comes to Pate, you always have more pate than you do to spread it on.

So having both meant that there was no pate left! which is a BIG pet hate of mine more so when its really nice Pate.

Very impressed!!

Main Course

Spagetti Carbonara £11.95
Pancetta, garlic, egg, cream, parmesan

My favourite Italian dish and I had this recently at another Italian restaurant, so I used that as a comparison.

This was a very good and large portion, so much so I left some.

This was a very nice Carbonara, perfectly cooked and had a lot of flavours.

For me this is probably the second best Carbonara for me, the other Italian I don’t know why but it just had the edge over it but it is still a VERY good carbonara.

Prosecco Lemone £6.95
Prosecco and Lemoncello

Two of my favourite Italian drinks, combined in to two…now what couldn’t be good about this.

This at first was very hmmm is it nice? is it just ok….but the more I drank the more it grew on me and I enjoyed it.

I would have this again or even make it myself.

This was an Itison deal I got as part of Mother’s Day, it was £19 for Afternoon Tea for two at the Apex Hotel in Glasgow.

I had never been here before to stay, dine or for Afternoon Tea but the images I saw on the offer page was very nice and I booked.

On arrival we were shown to the table, and asked what drinks we would like with the Afternoon Tea.

The Afternoon Tea…

When it arrived the presentation was very nice, and I couldn’t wait to start and see how this was compared to the other Afternoon Tea’s I have had.

From start to end this was very nice, my only issue was there could have been slightly bigger sandwiches or even a few more.

The one part of this that stood out was the little Haggis Bon Bon’s, these were AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall it was a very nice day, and very nice Afternoon and definitely worth the money. If I see the deal on again, I will be purchasing it again.
