It’s taken me this long to write this up, deliberately as I wanted to make sure I had enough detail and also have the Greece Vlog videos completed.
This is my first visit to Greece (Crete), and I booked my holiday via a travel agency and this was where I would be staying for 5 nights.
I arrived at night so I didn’t get much time to see anything, but this is what my room looked like.

Bedroom Area :

IMG_1227.jpg
This was very nice and spacious, but the one issue was the bed.
Every time I moved even just a little, it squeaked!! so when I did move more it was squeak squeak squeak…so my sleeping habit had to be changed to not move much.

Bathroom :

For the standard of hotel, this was nice and very clean.
The only issue here for me was the shower had a curtain which I am not a fan off, and the shower head really needed changing as the metal/silver plating was chipping off.

I booked all inclusive, which I have not done for many many years.
What this meant was you got your food (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) and all your drinks….well if it was alcoholic it had to be local wine, local beer etc so all local products which was fine for me.
For me personally the food was just so so, I could see they catered for all but they didn’t really have many Greek dishes which really disappointed me.
The food each day didn’t really change, so I started to get bored with seeing the same foods.
Don’t get me wrong what I did eat was nice, just not amazing….for the Greek food I had to travel to different restaurants near me or when I took a trip somewhere.

Location :

I wish I had booked somewhere else, but I only found out by doing some travelling.
The beach which is a short walk from the hotel is so so more rocky than sandy beach as I was expecting. So another disapointment as I couldnt really, go and sun on the beach here.
About a 20min walk to the left of the hotel you can find a local SPAR where you can get drinks, food etc so this was useful when I was going a trip or two to get some water bottles.
Due to me not being someone who just sits in the hotel 24/7 I visited a few places :

1. Heraklion

To travel here it takes around 40 mins by bus from the hotel.

2. Malia

This is a very nice tourist area, with many shops, restaurants and a great beach.
10-12 mins by bus from this hotel.

3. Lerapetra

Here is a very nice place to visit, and one I would recomend either going via a company or doing yourself.

4. Spinalonga

While in Crete I visited the island of Spinalonga, officially known as Kalydon. Here is a short walk around video, but please do take the tour it’s really educational and interesting to see.

5. Agios Nikolaos

Just a short video but worth a visit.

Overall

Overall my first visit to Greece (Crete) was a good one, the weather wasn’t great but it was much better than what I would have had if I had stayed in Glasgow.
The hotel for what I paid was good, but I am sure if I just spent a little more time on GoogleMaps I could have found a better-situated hotel.
The staff were very nice and very helpful, and the hotel was nice looking…just the bed issue and shower head issue.
Would I go back? maybe not as I said I wasn’t happy with the location as Malia looked nice and the beach was very nice, and a few other places I visited looked much nicer so sorry guys.
If I do go back to Greece I may try another island.
If your looking to just stay in the hotel and by the hotel pool, this hotel will be perfect for you. If like me you like to walk to a sandy beach etc, then you should try a better located hotel.

Festive Menu Launch at Blysthwood Square Hotel (Glasgow) : Event

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…..and the Blythswood Square Hotel is in the festive mood.

I was lucky enough to be invited to come along to the Blythswood Square Hotel, where myself and other bloggers etc would be treated to Christmas themed canapes and fizz and here all about the festive offerings….plus a special guest (I wonder who that could be)

We all gathered around a big table, where we took many photos and mixed with each other. On the table were the festive canapes, all looked very good.

Tonight was about the new Festive Lunch and dinner menu

We were told that the Blythswood Square Hotel was recently taken over, and they were trying to make improvements to several aspects of the hotel (to be honest I liked it before so how could they improve it?). All of the things they mentioned sounded very good, but the main one was the impression it gives people.

They wanted to make the menu and hotel more relaxed, and rather than a “you only go there if your loaded” anyone can come and enjoy a drink or a meal or even both which is good and the way it should be.

After enjoying the drinks and the food, we all had to participate in a little game…..

We all had to decorate the tree’s on the table, and someone special would be the judge

IMG_3848

This was my tree…and unfortunately, I didn’t win but hey it’s not the winning that counts its the taking part 🙂

Guess who the special guest was……..it was SANTA!!!! and we all had a photo or selfie taken with him.

IMG_3847

Yup and I got a photo too 🙂

Overall tonight was very fun and everyone enjoyed the night……and loved seeing Santa again.

As I said the hotel is now doing a Christmas lunch or dinner in the restaurant, and it will only cost £20 which is really good. The festive menu is only on from the 1st of December till 24th, so give them a call and book you and your family or friends or even both in for a little festive treat.

This was an Itison deal I got as part of Mother’s Day, it was £19 for Afternoon Tea for two at the Apex Hotel in Glasgow.

I had never been here before to stay, dine or for Afternoon Tea but the images I saw on the offer page was very nice and I booked.

On arrival we were shown to the table, and asked what drinks we would like with the Afternoon Tea.

The Afternoon Tea…

When it arrived the presentation was very nice, and I couldn’t wait to start and see how this was compared to the other Afternoon Tea’s I have had.

From start to end this was very nice, my only issue was there could have been slightly bigger sandwiches or even a few more.

The one part of this that stood out was the little Haggis Bon Bon’s, these were AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall it was a very nice day, and very nice Afternoon and definitely worth the money. If I see the deal on again, I will be purchasing it again.
