BURGUR Grill – (Halal) (Pollokshields, Glasgow) : Review

Invited

V: 16th March 2020

** This review was typed up before lock down! Please check with the restaurant if it is open or doing home delivery, and if they are check them out! **

The guys over at BurgurGrill Invited me, to their official launch night for BurgurGrill.

Looking Around

Inside has a very cool rustic look, and at the same time a very relaxing feel to it. I really liked the design inside, as I felt it really suited a burger restaurant.

The Food

I was given the menu and took a seat, and had a look.

Since this was a burger restaurant I asked the guys here what they would recommend, firstly was the beef burger and secondly was the butter chicken burger. Both of these options sounded really good, but I had to go with beef.

Main Course(s) :

Beef Burger : £N/A tonight (Normally £4.50 weekdays, £5.00 weekends)

served on a toasted brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, gherkin, mayo, cheese & fried onion

This was a nice looking burger, and it smelled really good to so it was time to take a bite and see how it tasted.

This was a really nice burger, the beef was very tender and a really nice flavour and worked as a whole bite.

BurgurGrill is 100% Halal, and the beef is from their family run butchers so they can trace its steps all the way back which is really good!

WOW!!!! ok I have to say these are the nicest sweet potato fries I have had!!! the flavour was good, they were just crispy enough and mmmm perfect!!!!

Charcoals Peri Peri Takeaway (Glasgow) : Review

GIFTED

The guys over at Charcoals Peri Peri asked if I would like to try some of their food for tonights meal.

I was actually look at their menu a few days before they contacted me, so it was perfect timing.

I then found out that Muhammad Sultan also manages Charcoals Peri Peri, if you don’t know Muhammad Sultan he works in Glasgows Charcoals Indian restaurant, he does amazing charity work and he is a really really nice guy and I consider him a friend.

What to order?

As I said I had actually had a look at their menu a few days prior to them contacting me, and I liked what I saw but couldnt decided.

So now I sat down and had a good think and this is what I ordered.

Charcoals Chicken Wings⁣

I opened the container and wow the amazing smell hit me, and then it was photos and dig in.

The chicken was nice and tender, and the flavour was very very nice.

⁣Gourmet beef burger⁣

I have not had a burger for a while, its mostly been chicken for the past few days for me so I was looking forward to this.

This was very nice, the flavour of the whole burger was really good.

This along with the chips was very nice.

I did add some extra sauce to my burger, but thats just a personal preference.

⁣Poppin Chicken ⁣

As soon as I opened the container mmmm they looked amazing and mmmm smelled amazing to.

Now these were so so good!!! the chicken was tender and the crispy batter had a great flavour. I could easily become addicted to these.

These were my favourite from my whole meal, and as I am typing this review I want them again 🙂

⁣Classic Peri Peri chicken (whole chicken)

Now this was a big bird!

Just like the chicken wings these had the same great flavour and also again very tender and succulent chicken.

⁣⁣Chips and Cheese⁣

A classic and splits a lot of people, some like it and others say nope.

For me chips and cheese is always a winner, the chips were nice and the melted cheese over them was perfect.

⁣Aloo paratha

Just like naan Aloo Paratha’s are becoming a new fav, and I have even made a few at home (but not as good as the restaurants…yet)

This was very nice, perfectly cooked and had a nice flavour mixed with a very small kick.

So good and mega moreish!

Kitchen Punjab Platter (Glasgow & East Kilbride) : Review

GIFTED

I was sitting having a look at different profiles on Instagram last week, and I spotted Kitchen Punjabs account and the food and cost caught my eye so I started following.

On Saturday 20th the guys sent me a message, to see if I would like to try one of their platters.

About

Fresh & Home-made Punjabi food from our kitchen to yours, cooked fresh on the day. Free Delivery in Glasgow/EK, 6-8pm and orders Wed & Sat only. Wednesday is the Vegan night.

Kitchen Punjab is fairly new about just over a month old at the time of posting this, and I got talking to them and learned that everything is home made, made with love and you can really taste this.

Heat & Eat Platter

The guys sent me the Heat and Eat Platter which consisted of :

  • Tadka Chawaal (Fried Rice)
  • Makhini Chicken Curry (butter chicken)
  • Chapli Kebab
  • Roti
  • Chicken Pakora
  • Raita
  • Salad

The normal cost for this is £20 with free Glasgow and East Kilbride delivery…..how good is that!!! and its can feed two people or one very hungry person.

You get a lovely little message with the platter, which also includes heating instructions. This part doesn’t take long, so if your very hungry dont worry you wont wait long to eat.

My Starter

So I got out all the starter items, and platted it up.

I started with chicken pakora.

The chicken pakora batter was not too crispy but not soft, just a nice amount of crunch. The chicken was nice and tender, and overall a really good flavour! I could have easily had more of these.

Next the Chapli Kebab.

I think this is the first time having this, so I was looking forward to how it tasted.

This was very nice, it was packed with a lovely flavour and I enjoyed every mouthful.

my Main Course :

  • Tadka Chawaal (Fried Rice)
  • Makhini Chicken Curry (butter chicken)
  • Roti

I started with the rice and it was cooked perfectly, and I think I could taste cinnamon through the rice which added such a lovely flavour.

The roti was nicely cooked, and tasted good.

The curry wow! flavour wise really good, worked amazingly with the rice mega moreish. For me it had a big kick, but that didn’t stop me finishing it.
