Speedy Order Restaurant & Bar Ordering Service : Review

The guys over at Speedy Order asked me if I could give them a wee promo, normally I like to have tried the product/restaurant etc before I review but during these current times I thought sure and I would take a good look at what they offer…plus its nice to help 🙂

About Them

Speedy Order has launched the perfect product at the perfect time. As we all look forward to going back to our favourite local and eating out again this simple self order system will make social distancing a whole lot easier. Ordering will be done via a free app meaning you choose your table, scan it’s QR code, choose your food and drinks, hit send and Bingo – all done without any face to face contact. You can re-order the same round, add extras, split the bill – all incredibly helpful and easy to do.

Apart from the benefits from the Covid 19 viewpoint of less time uncomfortably close to strangers at the bar, there’s also no need to break away from your conversation, no risk of losing your table if you’re on your own. No need to leave your kids unsupervised to go and order, no struggle to catch the waiter’s attention, and great if you have mobility restrictions. And obviously there’s more drinking time if you don’t have to queue! As a customer I know the establishment is taking my safety seriously with social distancing.”

The app

They do an app for your phone, or if the bar/restaurant your in uses tablets they can hand you it to order.

Why Bars/Restaurants will love it

These were the key points I liked (taken from their website)

  • Increase hourly transactions
  • Ability to instantly change your menu, even during service. This is super powerful, change prices and even add new dishes mid service to minimise wastage and maximise profit
  • Immediately remove items from the menu when you’ve sold out
  • No menu printing costs
  • Targeted promotions can be added instantly. Now you can easily change your menu to suit. Sun comes out – do a Pimm’s promotion. Cold snap – offer mulled wine. Wimbledon fortnight – strawberries and cream. Push it to all your tables immediately
  • Be fully COVID-19 compliant, reassure customer
  • Ticks the Distance Ordering government requirement

Why Customers Like it

These were the key points I liked (taken from their website)

  • No ‘too close for comfort’ queuing at the bar
  • No need to walk away from your conversation to go and order
  • User friendly for those with a disability or mobility issues
  • No need to leave your kids unsupervised
  • In keeping with government COVID-19 social distancing guidelines

Overall :

As I said I havent personally used it, so I cant comment on how good it is or not.

Going by what I have seen on their website, it does look to be a good tool for businesses. The pricing plan is also not that bad see here https://www.speedyorder.co.uk/pricing-and-plans

For me I think its a cool idea, and if there was something at every table this could become the new normal way to order rather than having to wait for table service, stand waiting in line etc

Check them out

DryGate Brewery NEW Bar Food and Cocktail Menu (Glasgow) : Review

V: 6th March 2020

The guys over at DryGate Brewery, invited me over to the launch night of their new bar Food and Cocktail menu.

Looking Around

I have been to Drygate many times, with friends or with the craft beer tasting tours so I know it very well.

The event tonight was upstairs, the new menu for upstairs only.

The Food

I didnt know what was in store for me tonight, but I was mega looking forward to it.

I was told that a sampler would be brought round to me, and I could select 2 cocktails to try which was great.

  • Pizza By The Slice
  • Cauliflower Wings (VG)
  • Tacos : Crisp Fried Haddock
  • House Made Nachos (V)

All of these samples were very nice, and full of flavour, my favourite from this selection was the Cauliflower Wings and I could have easily had more.

The fish taco was nice, but the taco broke up for me very easily so I couldn’t grab and eat, I had to use my knife and fork.

And there was more..

This was Drygates Vegan Curry was served in a tiffin tray with bread, rice and dips.

Presentation wise I really liked this, and as you can see its very instagramable…..now for the taste..

This was a VERY good curry, and extremely moreish.

If you like currys you need to try this, and I promise you you wont regret it.

Cocktails :

Orinoco Russian : Vodka, Coffee Liqueur, Orinoco Syrup, Milk and Cream Chocolate

Pineapple Rum Old Fashioned : Plantation Pineapple Rum, Sugar and Orange Bitters

Both these cocktails were very good, but my fav and one I would definitely have again is the Orinoco Russian mmmmm so good 🙂

Note : Just because this was an invite, that has not influenced my thoughts in any way. The above is a 100% honest review of the day.

Firstly a big thanks to DryGate for my invite, I really had a great time and good food and cocktails.

I really loved the Cauliflower Wings and the Drygate Vegan curry, these were my top two dishes from tonight.

Overall I can recommend you visit and try the new menu and the cocktails, as I really enjoyed what I had. Thanks again guys 🙂

River House (Stirling, Scotland) : Review

V: 12th January 2020

I decided to try somewhere new today and came across this place.

Looking Around

Driving up it looks so beautiful, I don’t know if this is still some Christmas decorations or these illuminated trees will be there all the time but wow look how amazing this looked.

Heading inside again the wow factor continued, this places was so nice inside and the atmosphere instantly was very relaxing.

Breaded Haggis Cake £6.95

Champit potatoes, turnip purée, crisp leek, whisky mustard sauce

I was going to order my go to starter then decided nah, lets order something different and this dish jumped out at me.

Visually this looked really nice on arrival, and it was a good portion size as a starter.

Taste time…

This was very good, the haggis has the consistency of a burger and everything together wow the flavours were just amazing.

Main Course :

Simon Howie Prime Steak Burger £12.95

Milk bun, traditional burger sauce, fries, onion ring.

Added extras : Cheddar & bacon £1.50 each

Wow this was a big portion, and the smell was amazing…time to dig in.

I am not an onion ring fan, so I left this.

The burger as a whole was very good, it was very thick and the flavours plus my little extras made it very tasty.

For me it could have used a little more sauce, but thats a personal preference.
