I was told about this place prior to booking this trip to Romania, and I added it to my list to visit and try.

Today we were meeting a friend that we have not seen since December 2016/January 2017, and we had planned to meet for brunch.

On arrival to here the outside looked very nice, so I took a quick look inside and again it was very nice. The closest I could say it looked like was a Patisserie Valerie, but for me a lot brighter and more modern.

While waiting I ordered a coffee.. (Sorry can’t remember how much this was I think around the 6 LEI maybe less)

Now this is how to present a cappuccino! I loved this and was ready to see how good the coffee was here.

This was a very nice cappuccino, and if I visited here again I would order this again.

Now on to the brunch…..

The Brunch…

Sweet Breakfast Platter 49.9 LEI

On arrival again the first thing to grab my attention was the presentation, this was amazing and I loved both plates presentation.

The next was how much there was, but my thought on arrival and still is….there should have been 2 Croissants as you got so much spread you really needed at least 2.

This was a perfect size brunch, it couldn’t have been a breakfast or a lunch as it was very filling but since I didn’t have a breakfast today this was perfect and yes I finished it all.

Nam Tuk Tram Stop (West End, Glasgow) : Review

At the time of writing this post, this restaurant is new to the Glasgow food scene. I saw all the promotion on Facebook, and I thought I need to visit this when it opens.

I decided not to go as soon as it opened as it would probably be mega busy, so I left it for about two weeks.

Prior to going I had a look at the menu, and spotted a few dishes that I would like to try so I knew that when I go I would have to have at least 4 dishes.

This is in a great spot, and going by the prices on the menu its perfect for students or if you just want to order small dishes.

First Impression :

On entering you are hit with vivid colours, lots of bamboo and very friendly staff. I really liked the look of this place, and couldn’t wait to see where my table was.

The walls all were painted very colourful, and some had some very cool artwork this gave the place a very funky and modern look.

While we waited for a few other people to arrive, I sat at the bar and had a talk to the bar staff. Behind the bar staff on the wall, there was a vast selection of drinks so I knew that the cocktails should be good…but I had to try some to see if I was correct or not.

Cocktail Time….

The first cocktail I had was :

Sango Island £7.00
Jinro Soju, Lejay Blue Curaçao, Luxardo Maraschino, Pineapple Juice , Coconut

img_3461

This cocktail sounded nice, and sounded like it would be sweet…well to me it did so I thought lets get it. It was a very nice cocktail, and one that was easy to drink. It wasn’t as sweet as I thought, more a nice balance with a very very slight sour taste at the end.

It would be rude to just have the one cocktail….

My second cocktail was :

Melon Bei £7.00
Midori, Koskenkorva Vodka, Lejay Triple Sec, Lime Juice, Sugar Syrup

IMG_3471

Now this was actually recommended to me by the bar staff, as I told them I had a very sweet tooth so they had a lot to live up to with this recommendation….

Was it sweet enough for me?…

This was AMAZING!!!!!!!! perfect taste, just sweet enough and very easy to drink!!! This is what I will be having again when I return!!!! if you like a sweet cocktail, then when you visit here order this you wont be disapointed.

The Food…

Salt & Pepper Squid £5.50
Chinese style crispy fried squid, chopped spring onion and pepper, sweet chilli sauce

IMG_3488

I love this when I get a Chinese, so I thought lets see how they do it here.

It was nice, the squid was in a nice not too crispy batter and the peppers added nice flavour.

My only issue but this could be a personal thing, it wasn’t that salty, normally you get a nice salty and crispy taste but it was more flavoured and less salty….well to me it was.

Tteok-bokki £4.95
(vgn) Korean rice cake, sweet & spicy

IMG_3490

When this arrived it looked and smelled really nice.

OH MY GOD!!!! for me this was MEGA spicy, and that was with just one piece. To be honest it was really nice flavour, but WAY too spicy for me so I gave it to my friend who has a better spice threshold than me.

Gyoza £5.95
Handmade crispy pork dumplings, soy sauce

IMG_3491

These looked so good so I couldn’t wait to try them.

Yup these were really nice, and the dipping sauce added that nice little extra flavour to them. I could have had more of these.

The little dumplings were perfectly cooked, and the pork was nice and full of flavour.

Korean Tacos £5.95
3 soft corn tacos, spicy Korean beef, Asian salsa, coriander, Chinese chives

IMG_3492

I like tacos, so when I saw Korean Tacos I had to try them and see what they were like.

On arrival I could smell the beef which was amazing, and it looked really good.

These were very very good, and very filling but yup you guessed it I could have had another one.

This is another dish I would have again when I come back.

Zen Sushi (Bucharest, Romania) : Review

Apart from trying different types of Romanian food, I wanted to try some other styles of food when I was here and one style was Japanese. From my research and also from friends, I was told about Zen Sushi.

My favourite Sushi place in Glasgow is Nippon Kitchen, so I wanted to see how Zen Sushi was and how its atmosphere was so I payed it a visit.

On arrival the entrance was very Japanese themed with a little bridge and pond, this for me was very cool as I liked themed style restaurants so this was a good start for me.

We were welcomed in and shown to a seat inside.

There was an instant nice relaxing feel to the restaurant, and from the food I saw being served to everyone around me it looked very good so I couldn’t wait to order.

We had this little device on the table, this is the first time I have been to a restaurant with something like this. It had 2 buttons on it, one to order, two to pay for the bill and the last to cancel.

I will show the cost in the native currency, if you are reading this and stay in the UK just device the cost by 5 and it’s roughly that in pounds.

The Food…

Starter

Gyoza Shrimp 25 LEI

IMG_2868.jpg

Tonight I wanted to try a few things, so I thought lets have a look at the starters and see what I fancy.

I opted for this dish as it sounded nice…well looked nice from the photos and I knew it was shrimp so it sounded good.

This was very nice, the perfect size for a starter. The shrimp taste was very nice and not overpowering and the added sauce just added that extra nice flavour.

I really enjoyed this and would have it again.

IMG_2873.jpg

For my main I opted for this, and no I didn’t have it all to myself even though I could probably have taken it all…..I shared it with my girlfriend.

I loved this!!!! every mouthful was very nice and again with the added dip wow amazing!!!

There was one of them that stood out from the rest, and I wish I knew what one it was as I wish I would have had more of this type.
