I had not been to Gretna Green for many years, and couldn’t really remember much about the trip there and what was actually there so I had a day off work and decided to visit.

If you want the history of Gretna, my best advice would be to take a look at the website as thats going to be a lot more accurate than me.

The weather for today was mixed, it kept changing from rain to sunny and looking at the clouds it was hard to tell what was coming.

The journey from Glasgow to Gretna was very nice, the weather on the way down was nice and sunny and it was really nice to see all the greenery and the nearly clear skies.

After 2.5 hours driving we arrived….

To be honest there isn’t a lot to do here, but it is a nice little walk around. If your in to history then you can take a few tours, read a lot about each little building and the romantic history.

There are your normal tourist shops, and a few places to eat and relax.

Places To See When Here :

  1. Blacksmith Shop
  2. Shopping
  3. Eat and Dine
  4. Gretna Outlet

As you walk about there are a lot of little sculptures, with descriptions and also some posters with information and facts about Gretna Green to read which is very interesting.

Before heading to the outlet we sat down and got some Afternoon Tea.

I can’t remember the name of this cafe, its right next to the big hands. The afternoon tea was around £12 for two, and I have to admit for the money it was amazing as you got loads and could have easily fed 3 people.

Fed and watered now on to the outlet…

The outlet isn’t that far away from here, and as you would expect a good amount of shops with free wifi and ok prices.

I did get myself a nice hoodie when I was here, I couldn’t visit and not get something that would just be rude 🙂

This was a nice little day trip out, and was nice to see a very famous area that has a lot of romantic history. I was told people still come from all over the world, just to get married here.
