Quick Post : My First Time Running

First Run Date : Sunday 30 April 2017

I am not Mr fit, but then again I am not overweight or in bad shape (if I say so myself). I used to do a few sports when I was younger Swim, Karate and Tennis, but then as most kids do they give them up.

My weight over the past 3 to 6 years has been up and down but mostly up, so I thought lets give it a shot plus with all the food I am eating for my restaurant reviews I need to keep in shape.

I didn’t know what I needed to buy to start, so I hit the shops and took a look at what was on offer.

I learned that there is a large amount of sports clothes, I kinda knew this but didn’t know exactly how much as its an area I have never really looked at. I knew I had to get trainers and also I wanted an arm pouch for my iPhone so I could measure how I do….and obviously the rest of the clothes as I don’t think running naked in public is the way to go.

So I got all my gear and I was ready.

Today I started running for the first time….

The morning of the run…

I woke up and thought “what am I doing?” part of me wanted to go back to sleep, the other part thought no lets do this. I think this is the hardest part for running or even going to the gym, the motivation of actually getting out there and starting and keeping it up.

The location we set for the run was Kelvingrove Park, I have walked here many times, been to the Mela here and it was a nice location for a run….plus the weather today was going to be dry and slightly sunny so a win.

Throughout the run I did have to slow down to a fast walk to catch my breath, but once it was back I started up again.

After the run…

Active Calories : 245 CAL
Total Calories : 318 CAL
Distance : 3.77KM
Elevation Gain : 68M
Avg Heart Rate : 130BPM
Avg Pace : 10'37 /KM

I actually did better than expected, well I think I did. Total time running around the 30mins, with 5 to 10 mins walking in-between when got out of breath.

The next day my legs were sore, but this was to be expected.

I will continue as my aim to run for 1 hour without stopping, so lets see how I do.

My next run is on Tuesday 9th May 2017

Will keep you posted.

As you regular readers know I really like Chaakoo, and I have been there a many times.

You can see all my other reviews by doing a search, but tonights visit I decided to keep my promise and try different dishes…ok well I had one that I have had before but the rest was all new.

Tandoori King Prawn £9
King prawns steeped in our house smoked tandoori rub, flash flamed on the robata grill and garnished in citrus lemon.

When this arrived I though “oh” as part of me though it was presented in a shell and I am not a fan of that but I was very happy to see no shell

This was very nice, the King Prawn was very meaty and the flavour was really good. The meat wasn’t chewy, and the flavour was was just right.

I tried it with and without the sauce, but personally its perfect without but its all down to your own personal taste.

I would have this again.

Machali £4.95
Fish pakora in a coriander & green chilli batter.

I was a little disappointed with this dish, the main reason I was expecting a lot of flavour but for me it tasted just like Fish Fingers.

Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with Fish Fingers, but it was just an OK dish for me.

Saag Paneer £5.95 (V)
A classic jalfrezi dish of spiced spinach, studded with cubes of creamy fried paneer cheese.

Ok ok I know I have had this before but I really like this, I promise next time I won’t order this again.

Mango & Banana Crumble £4.95

I decided that I still had room for some more so I opted to try this dish.

I am so glad I did.

This was a very nice dish, and I am regretting not having it sooner (thats if its been on the menu and I have missed it…or recently added).

I would and will have this next time and again and again! I might even order two on my next visit.

Caramelised Pineapple Lassi £3.25

So! I normally have a Mango Lassi but I thought lets try another one today.

It was ok, the pineapple flavour was nice and the texture was ok.

Little disappointed but glad I tried something new, I think I will stay with the Mango Lassi.

Overall another very good visit, I am very glad I tried a lot of new dishes and I will 10000% have the Mango and Banana Crumble.

Every time I come here I am very relaxed and always have a good meal, if you haven’t tried here yet please do give it a visit.

Smoke BBQ (Glasgow) : Review

Visit Date : 17 April 2017

I had been to Smoke BBQ long ago, and was a little disappointed so it was time to give it a second shot. The reason I was disappointed was, what I wanted to order they didn’t have left so I had to try something else.

Just like the last time we were shown to the table, and given some popcorn to snack on while we waited.

This is a funky idea, and the popcorn was nice shame they only brought one little one to share between two.
