Visit Date : 22nd March 2017

I had not been to Barca in over a year, not due to any bad reason just I have been trying other places since then so it was time to go back.

I had an itison deal this visit. “Authentic Spanish paella for two plus a carafe of wine to share at Barca Tapas & Cava Bar”

As always I can’t just stick to the voucher, I have to also order a little something else so while we waited for the paella to be ready (about 30-40mins) we ordered a starter.

Starter :

TOSTADA CON SETAS £4.75
Tostadas topped with sauteed wild mushrooms, chilli and honey

I am not a fan of mushrooms..then why did I order this you’re thinking. I am trying to start to eat better and healthier….not all the time but slowly be better with my eating habits.

I decided to order this and see what it was like.

This was actually really nice, it was a perfect starter size and had a really nice flavour. The honey and the chilli added a little extra to the flavour, and I would have this again.

The paella….

PAELLA DE VALENCIA
King prawns, calamari, mussels, chicken and chorizo

I won’t comment on how much this normally is as I was using a voucher.

This was to share, and takes roughly about 30 to 40mins to prepare.

This was a good sized portion, but I could have easily had this all to myself.

The calamari was cooked perfectly as it wasn’t that rubbery way, and the chorizo just added extra flavour.

Flavour was really good you could take everything, normally with fish dishes one ingredient is overpowering everything the rice, sauce etc but this was just right.

The Wine…

FUENTE VERDE, GARNACHA ROSADO, CARIÑENA

This was a very nice and light rose wine, and was perfect with the paella.

Overall :

Overall tonight was a nice relaxing evening.

With the voucher it was value for money, but even without it I feel if you were to share the paella and split the bill its good value for money.

The eventing was a very nice one, service and atmosphere was good and we both enjoyed our meal.
