Today I needed my Nippon Kitchen fix, as I had just been to the Blythswood Square Gin Festival and was hungry.

I always find I am very relaxed here, and enjoy the atmosphere and more so the food which is why I keep coming back. I did enquire if Nippon Kitchen has a Twitter account, but at the time of writing this they still don’t but you can find them on Facebook.

I am going to shock you all, well the ones that are regular readers of my blog…..I had 3 different dishes…..hope you were sitting down reading that part.

Starter :

Yasai Korokee (V) : £4.50
Sweet potato cakes deep fried in panic breadcrumbs, served with Japanese fruity sauce and mayonnaise.

This was very light and had a nice flavour. The sauce was really good and boosted the flavour a little more.

Portion size was perfect for a starter.

Main :

10 Piece Special Maki Sushi : £11.00
Crispy soft shell crab and tempura king prawns rolled with cucumber and mayonnaise topped with fresh king prawn and sesame seeds.

Can you really go wrong with sushi? yes, you can but anytime I have had it here it’s been perfect.

This was a smaller size for me, and also a different style of sushi than I normally have.

I really like this, the flavour was really good and the tempura king prawns added a really nice taste and texture to each bite. The rice was perfect as it didn’t fall apart, which I have found a few places in Glasgow this happens.

Drink :

Coconut Juice

I decided to try this knowing nothing about it, apart from it should taste like Coconut.

I was very surprised with this, as the flavour was not overpowering and it was very thirst-quenching. As you can see by the photo there are little bits at the bottom of the glass, these are actual coconut pieces.

I can’t remember the cost but it was under £5, when I return I will remember to take note.

Overall :

Overall another very satisfying visit to Nippon Kitchen, the service etc was all very good today and I am glad I tried a few new different dishes.

Nippon is still my current favourite in Glasgow for Japanese and Sushi.
